kit reads over the scroll, fingers pressed against the pages. the words and the symbols begin to crawl along his skin, until the last rune fades into the center of his forehead. his eyes flash obsidian before they fade back to normal. the scroll disintegrates between his fingers. 

then, it makes eye contact. there's a sound in the back of his head, distorted, that sends chills down his spine, makes ice run through his bloodstream. his fingers grip tighter, the blood stops flowing from his hand. in the depths of his mind he hears it, a screeching cry, distorted as if something is corrupting it. nails on a chalkboard and the sound of metal grinding.

"lift the veil. find the upside down key."

his vision breaks, plummeting him back to reality. this time, he doesn't pass out. he;s only left with a headache and a sense of dread, the vision of the large, purple smoke wolf embedded in his mind.

the words are practically illegible at this point, the pages aged and torn beyond repair. even the title has etched off, but behind its cover you make out the words ‘the grey sisters’ in ancient greek. you’re able to read through the tome for a few hours and apply what you already know about pagan witchcraft and black magic to unearth the information available to you. once you finish, the dusty book bursts into purple and black flames, burning until only its ashes remain scattered and on your lap. you’re filled with knowledge that’s comfortingly familiar to you.

to  the  son  of  magic  and  crossroads,      first  off  i  want  to  apologize  for  murdering  you  during  our  spar  the  other  day.   i  didn’t  think  that  i  was  that  strong.   to  be  honest,  i  thought  your  magic  would  truly  put  a  dent  in  me,  but  i  hit  you  hard  many  times  before  the  magic  could  do  some  real  damage.   regardless,  i  hope  you’re  doing  alright,  and  you’re  resting.

     i  just  want  to  say  that  you  have  a  good  christmas.    i’m  glad  to  have  you  around,  and  the  few  times  we  interact,  i  appreciate.   you’re  one  cool  guy,  kit.    and  hoping  for  the  new  year  i  get  to  know  you  a  little  more.   and  hey,  i’ll  make  sure  to  train  you  more!   i  feel  like  you  have  a  lot  of  potential.   

       also,  have  this  little  gift.   honestly,  i’m  not  really  good  at  making  things,  but  youtube  somehow  helps  a  lot.   it  was  a  basic  wire  ring,  but  i  found  this  pretty  looking  crystal  and  added  it  in.   maybe  it  could  have  magic  properties,  or  you  can  just  give  it  the  magic  property  it  needs!   merry  christmas,  dude.
