i've discovered i like this particular dynamic very much, which in hindsight should be much more obvious considering i've got a particular type of fics i like, that includes all your tdbk fics starting with i go for the door, my all time favourite (if you ever feel like expanding that universe, prequel or otherwise, please do so, i'd be eternally grateful).

regarding the recent valley of the kings chapter, you absolutely delivered on the fight scenes and it was delightful to read katsuki's (admittedly biased) perspective on what's going on in shouto's head. i'd love to know what shouto was thinking when she was patching up katsuki.

i always hesitate to read gender swap fics because they always manage to convey that the character is now somehow weaker or different in a way that goes completely against there actual canon self, i only read this one because its you who wrote it and i'm delighted to say you've surpassed my expectations again. I absolutely love you for making ser bakugou and prince shouto and can't wait to read the next chapter 💙🧡

the difference in chara dvp is a funny accident of the fic really. i wasn't intending on it when i set out to write the story, but the logistics of having the camps split up and the necessity of having bakudeku retain their origin story meant they necessarily had reached sort of current canon levels of mentality, give or take some added tension and less emotional healing due to the times they live in and their responsibilities/roles. on the other hand, poor shouto has been stuck in enji's shadow as literal heir to the throne, and although there are people around like inasa and momo + she has been operating quasi-independently and away from her father for some time, she's not been power-of-friendship-ed and she also doesn't have the space to come to the healthy place we know shouto gets to in canon.

Whats actually funny about this is that, like, endeavor named her this? He set up that gender fuckery on purpose.

Ofc the doylist explanation is that you probably kept the names for recognition but I'm going to run with this lol

hahah yeah tbh i just hate name changes in genderbend fic/fanon bc they're always really awkward/forced to try and sound similar-ish to the OG character names (obviously this has nothing to do w real life name changes which are cool and awesome)

the pragmatic line of thinking i had going in was that i couldn't have the characters maintain quirks with the scale of power they have in canon, because it just took them too far out of the genre setting. i wanted it to remain fantasy, so they kept some of their powers, but essences are toned down to like maybe 1/3 of canon scale, and need a channel to work with the kind of precision they would be used with in bnha proper.

to give examples with the girlies, shouto wouldn't be able to do a sports fest style ice wall in this, despite this being something that comes fairly effortlessly to shouto in canon. smaller scale. everyone's essence is a lot more attuned to their physical body and space. she also wouldn't be able to do like a hell spider because that's too fine-tuned. hence supplementing attacks with a bow and arrow (very shouto, i feel). but in any event this shouto still refuses to use fire, which will be plot relevant very soon. same sort of thing is true with katsuki, who wouldn't be able to pull off a howitzer impact but can easily do ap-shot equivalents.
