your relationship with the unreal and the nonphysical directly governs how you react to things. having a fear of emotions or a belief in fantasy distorts the mind into behaving maladaptively. zoochosis. you seek ways of bringing the impossible into the world of reality. you abandon reality and connection in favor of escape. an escape to fiction is impossible, and the mind struggles to grapple with that ultimate truth. people invent reasons why things happen, they invent the feelings of others, they invent rule-systems that govern themselves and others. compulsions. insecurities. delusions. these things stem ultimately from experiences that convince people that they can no longer safely believe or engage with reality.
an emotionally mature, resilient mind can reassure itself that it is operating within a real world- operations of which are grounded within self-deterministic and compassionate behaviors. connections with others, effort, learning, deepening the relationship with the self and the world it exists in. the maintenance of the body and its strengths- in fine or gross motor skills, but optimally both. a conscious effort to accept the experience of being alive, being present within one's life. and that really sucks and is hard and i hate it. but it keeps you alive.
