BUT it feels to me more like a heightened version of what outsiders think teaching high school is like. Ive seen a couple reviews from teachers who liked it that just left me like….huh? I don’t recognize any aspect of my day to day life as a high school teacher. Even down to the little things. Like why are we still putting “teenage students” in rows? Where are the cell phones? Where are the million snacks and water bottles? Why do they all look so awake? Like who are these kids?

From the promotional material I’ve been able to find there’s a lot of emphasis on the hot button controversial topics that make the news but are rarely in conversation most days if ever.

Abbott elementary is so much more relatable to me and I don’t even teach elementary. It still feels like a show made for teachers that happens to be universally funny/relatable.

MIMICS

Descendants from creatures like the Basilisk, and similar to changelings in the canon timeline but on steroids. Mimics are known for their difficulty, deception and versatility in magic and sorcery. They get their name for their tendency to ‘copycat’ anyone and anything to catch someone off guard and attack. Much like basilisks they like to drain magic from those they defeat, to make themselves more powerful.  They will feed off every opponent they defeat until they grow and change to enormous sizes and powers (Known as Master Mimics.).

Mimics can come in all shapes and sizes && hide in plain sight, imitating any animal, person or object. However, in their natural form they are identified with a few key features:

-Bright, colors and patterns

-Elongated limbs or otherwise exaggerated features. (often times teeth, tongues, hands, ears , extemities etc).

-Sharp teeth

-Often times a lack of facial features, either with a dark void in its place, or sometimes completely blank aside from a gaping mouth

-Sunken eyes or glowing eyes.

- Unnatrual movements

-Odd, clothes, armor, or wearings.

(one comparison I like to make is the style of creatures such as heartless from KH)

waaaa thank you!!!! personally i tend to be more inspired by various artworks i come across than specific artists themselves, but a few of my fave artists that immediately come to mind are:

@slitherbop​ - i feel like there’s no other way i can describe their art than Explosive, they fill entire pages with their distinctly styled characters and abstract shapes and designs, not a single pixel goes uncolored and it looks soooooo cool every time

@zzipa - the colors!!! the energy!!!! the absolute power move that is straight up typing in comic sans on their work and ALSO they are so so funny, always a joy to see their work

@sakana-comic - EVERY time i reread sakana it makes me wanna draw more cartoony the art is SO incredible (definitely read sakana btw!! Top Tier Webcomic)
