❝I do have a few good memories, most of them come from my first years in America. I was a star, the peoples darling. They loved me and they gave me everything I wanted. As a medium, I held the bridge of their beliefs in my hands and I could do anything with it. I was a sensation. I remember feeling alive back then, the parties, the music, the clothes- everything was extraordinary. And for a girl who had never had anything it was all I could have ever dreamed of. Seances at night, were I used my powers to rattle the table, call fourth strange sounds- and even sometimes create minor illusions- all while reading their faces for the information I needed to pretend those illusions were their pasts. But by day, I was less of a witch- more of the exuberant child who had yet to meet her fate. In those days America was beautiful. Everyone knew my name, and everywhere I went- I was treated like a lost love. In those days, I loved myself, my power- and the world, I was a child young and naive but so full of joy and hope for what I could be. After years of having nothing, I had it all. ❞
