Today is the big day :) Today I am getting Zoey’s paw print tattooed on my foot. I could not be more excited. Yes, there are definitely nerves, this is my first tattoo so I’m not entirely sure what to expect (although I have read a lot of articles and talked to quite a few people, so I definitely have more knowledge than I did!).

One of my very wise best friends reminded me that while I would be excited and nervous for my tattoo there were also going to be a lot of emotions wrapped up in the fact that it was Zoey’s pawprint. Yes, that is so exciting and so perfect for me, but also that feelings of loss and pain might come up today. 

She was right. again. 

I am so so excited for this tattoo, but I’m also feeling that whole in my heart again today. It’s always there, but today it’s a little more prominent. I wish I was taking my sweet girl for another walk today, another game of fetch, and another cuddle sesh. 

Instead I try to remember all of the great memories. I feel grateful to have loved and been loved by such a special sweet ball of fur. I’m lucky to have a dog whose footprint I want to tattoo on my foot.
