Do you think *ANYONE* will ever love me. Be honest but lie a little please, it’s really dark outside this time of year and I feel extra alone. 🥺😔
No snow, no light..

one kiss and i will surrender
As I mentioned before, this is my first year as a full-time worker. It is an office job, I mostly sit at the computer the whole day. And I begin to understand why so many people dislike winter so much. The thing is I still don't think it is about the winter itself, at least not for me.
It is the simple fact that we are deprived of any real sunlight for multiple months straight.
That is the part that gets to me the most. The cold, frozen fingers, frozen cars, the slippery slosh, the mud and rain, the grey skies and grey world, ... All of this I can deal with. And I say this as a person whose interests and other respondibilities require me to spend time outside in the cold and take care of animals so I get my fair share of the unpleasant parts of winter. I can still deal with all that, although I sometimes grumble and complain same as the next person.
What I wholeheartadly despise, is the fact that we are not allowed to actually see and experience winter during the day when it is actually bearable, even beautiful, outside of the weekends. I get just enough time to get home and then it's dark. Mornings are hopelessly dark as well.
I try to adjust as well as I can. I bought a very good headlamp, I know how to dress warmly. I could theoretically go out in the evening. And sometimes I do. But practically? It is always uncomfortable. I am a girl and I am scared to walk around the city after dark because the society is what it is. Even if I don't get assaulted or robbed, the drunken catcalls and just weird encounters are so much more prevalent when it is dark outside. I can't help but be uneasy and keep looking over my shoulder. That is not the relaxing mental health walk that I wanted. And sure, I can go to the well lit gym, the cafe, the library and I do that, too, but there is something very wrong with this system that we live in today, if taking a walk outside after work is a luxury I need to wait for for three months.
No surprise that everyone is miserable in winter. All diurnal organisms need natural sunlight to be healthy physically and mentally. It drives our interal clocks and has a huge impact on hormones. Office jobs force us to abuse our natural body rhytms. And most people don't have the choice to not live like this because they need earn enough to take care of themselves and their families. Isn't it just twisted?
