This Primitivo di Manduria Antica Maserria del Sigillo 2014 was ranked by @wine_spectator as part of their Top 100 list (worldwide)! This imported Italian red wine was an excellent find! It’s jammy, opulent, full bodied, big, and balanced. The finish is long, smooth, and velvety, leaving behind traces of dark berries, plum, and sweet cherries. Easily one of my new favorite primitivos—and Wine Spectator agrees, ranking it with a score of 90! I found this bottle at @Costco for only $11.99! 2013 Line 39 Pinot Noir. This one was a wild card, and I'm pleasantly surprised!! This gem of a bottle is smooth in texture, has hints of raspberry and cherry, and leaves its mark with a mild finish. South Coast Winery 2016 Chardonnay Sans Chéne. Okay... this is good!! I was pleasantly surprised by this Chardonnay, especially since Temecula is more known for its Cabernet, Syrah, Viognier, and sweet sparkling wines. Fun fact-- Temecula was heavily planted with Chardonnay vines in the '90s but lost more than 200 acres of it due to Pierce's Disease back in '99. I'm happy to see that Temecula wineries are making a come back and producing some quality Chardonnay!! I'll never forget a road-wine trip my husband and I took eight years ago. We were younger, freer, and just living in the moment. We went on a road trip with no expectations and no set plans... just a map in our hands, and an old '93 Camry full of gas. We decided to stop in Paso Robles for some wine tasting, since my husband was working in the industry at the time. We fell in love with the wines at @peachycanyon (still some of my favorite zinfandels), but they were also sampling some of the younger @chroniccellars wines. The staff at Peachy Canyon explained to us how excited they were about the Chronic Cellars brand, because the wine makers are actually the Beckett Brothers, sons of Doug Beckett, Peachy Canyon's founding Vintner. When we were introduced to one of Chronic Cellars's earlier blends, I remember liking how edgy the brand was. Not only were their blends bold and flavorful, but I loved how their vibrant and artistic labels mirrored their intriguing tastes. There is so much to say about our time at Peachy and our time trying their wines and Chronic Cellar wines-- To this day, every time we grab a bottle of Chronic Cellars, we reminisce on our trip to Paso and how much fun we had talking to family and staff over at Peachy Canyon and how excited they were about Chronic Cellars.
