But I'm glad you asked! I'll explain a few things prior to the events of Knight falling, so this may get long. I'll get to drawing this out eventually, but first thing's first —

This is a swap AU of Knight and Dark Choco. Dark Choco is called Milk Choco, and Knight was known as Squire prior to this. Everything else is mostly the same.

Knight, prior to being knighted, was known as Squire Cookie and studied under the grand warrior Milk Choco ; he wanted to the grandest of knights and promised to protect the royal family, whom he feels indebted to (I'll elaborate on another post, but street kid became a squire basically) .

He was a rather ambitious student, managing to surpass his peers in capabilities, granted his wreckless nature often got him into tussles and lost matches against his mentor.

He and Fire Spirit were rather close in this AU ; what started out as a partnership to help open up paths through the Dragon's Valley and other territories evolved into a genuine friendship full of mock fights and rough housing. They could have potentially had something deeper at some point, which would make the betrayal even worse.

It isn't sure how Squire came across this unholy blade, but he claims to have found it deep in the woods. Upon holding it, it whispered promises of grandeur and wealth. Although, unlike Dark Choco, the effects weren't immediate.

Months and months of training in secret with the blade left him slowly succumbing to the poisonous curse. It wasn't until he was officially knighted that things would go wrong.

It was midnight after the ceremony that Squire — now Knight — had ran off from the festivities, deep into those woods to grab the blade once more. The pale armor he was granted became dark, his blue cape a tattered red one and horns jutted from his helm. The curse was now complete.

Of course, with the new knight missing, chaos erupted with the castle.

This was supposed to be the Princess's retainer afterall, where did he go?

In the pandemonium, it was him who set the blaze to the old castles and divided the royal family whom saved him as a young child. Fire Spirit was there for the ceremony, but was ultimately blamed for the destruction.

But he knows what happened, for he saw the black knight on his horse, dashing from the embers. It was there that he felt most betrayed.
