Today's Ellies are the complement of Royal Marines from Erebus.
Their Sergeant, Daniel (or David, sources vary) Bryant - he is the highest ranked marine aboard.
Alexander Paterson - their corporal, so he's the 2IC.

Erebus had 7 marines originally, but they lost Private Braine on Beachy Island, giving them 6, like Terror. I imagine they had the extra one because it was the expedition's flagship, and therefore had an extra officer (Captain Franklin) as the marine's main job (since it's the 1840s so the "marines as the landing party/amphibious force" thing that would develop in the Crimean War hasn't yet done so) is to promote discipline and 'protect' the officers from the sailors in the event of discipline problems.
