Xtra Mile Market Rep SpotlightÂ
Welcome to our second Market Rep Spotlight! This is a feature where we shine a spotlight on some stellar fans who have been so important to our success. We hope you enjoy meeting the reps who go the xtra mile.
This month, we’d like to introduce you to Lori Champion of Hickman, Nebraska.
Q: What is your favorite thing about Xtra Mile Recordings?
A: The community that exists among the fans as well as the musicians. We really are a family.
Q: What made you want to join the Xtra Mile Street Team’s Market Rep Program?
A: I was already telling everyone I knew about Xtra Mile and encouraging friends to listen to bands on the label so it made the most perfect kind of sense to join the Market Rep program!
Q: What do you like about being in the Program?
A:Â I love having the opportunity to bring Xtra Mile to this part of Nebraska. The music scene where I live is small but there are a lot of people who are hungry for new and different things, and I love being able to introduce them to the Xtra Mile family!
Q: What was your favorite experience with the Program? Why?
A:Â I've enjoyed some of the online video challenges that have allowed me to include my pets. I am always looking for a reason to show of their adorable fuzzy faces! I also like that I'm pushed out of my comfort zone when I hand out swag at gigs. I've met a lot of awesome people I may not have otherwise.
Q: What else do you do when you’re not shouting about Xtra Mile Recordings?
A: I'm a graduate student at the moment and that takes up a fair bit of time. When I'm not studying, knitting and crochet occupy a lot of my time along with other crafty activities. I also read a lot, watch nerdy television, and on weekends do a thing called hashing which is sort of a scavenger hunt for adults that involves large quantities of drinking and a lot of singing.
Q: Name some of your favorite artists for us:
A: Frank Turner, Crazy Arm, Green Day, Will Varley, Skinny Lister, Street Dogs, Flogging Molly, Beans on Toast, Ducking Punches, Dropkick Murphy, Flatline Stereo!, Prima Donna, and on and on....
Q: What, and where is your favorite venue and/or music festival? Why are they your favorite?
A: Union Chapel in the UK is the best venue I've ever been to. It's so beautiful and unique. It was a stunning place for a gig and I hope to see more gigs there in the future. Any ship we're put on for the Salty Dog Cruise is the best too. It really can't get much better than seeing your favorite bands while floating somewhere in the ocean!
Q: To date, what was the best gig you've ever been to?
A: It's a tie between Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls the first time they played in Nebraska and the crowd started chanting "thank you Frank," and seeing Green Day at Gilman Street in Berkeley.
Q: Share a fun fact about yourself:
A: I have a hedgehog named Sir Oliver Hufflepuff. He is typically disgruntled and snuggling him is a bit painful.
Thank you so much for letting us spotlight you, Lori, and for being with us since the beginning! We love our family. - Val and Liz xx
