Now that I've finished s3 I caught up with reading some fanfics I had on wait. "Murmurs" in ao3 is currently my favourite piece of literature in the Zane and Rikki category. It's pretty well written, it's long (bonus) and it made me love the series even more. Like it all adds up. Emma and Ash are back, and their relationship is better developed than in the show. Seriously give the story a shot if you haven't.

Okay so, I need someone to explain this to me cause maybe I’m the one who doesn’t see it the same as all the others do.
When people complain about h2o s3 they could say whatever about Zane, cause for as much as I can love his character I know he acted bad sometimes even though by one side I can understand the reasons behind it, but the ONLY thing they say is “he cheated on rikki” when it was Sophie the one who kissed him.
Maybe I’m the strange one here but if someone kiss me and I don’t expected it to happen how can I be the one who cheats? Imo he wouldn’t have kissed her, she took advantage of the moment they were cheering cause she knew he wasn’t into her.
Then people go with “if he didn’t want the kiss he should have push her away” and okay but you know, when things like this happens your brain needs those 2secs to get what’s going on. When they parted we can see the confusion on his face and the fact that he whipped off his mouth give me a vibe like “what the hell has just happened” it’s not like someone who actually enjoyed it.
He should have told rikki right after? Yes.
He should have fired Sophie? Yes.
He should have not minimised it? Yes.
But I’m pretty sure this wasn’t what he wanted. He was totally into rikki, you can’t make me believe that after all he has done he just screwed up voluntarily this way, everything he did, good and bad things, were cause he didn’t want to lose her.
And all of this for what? So we could like will who was supposed to be the lead guy of the season? Will who was a walking red flag since day 1 but everybody was always by his side no matter what? Will who would have left rikki with those who kidnapped her if the girls didn’t gave up on their secret? Will who only cared about Bella’s mermaid side? Will who was totally into rikki even though he was supposed to like her friend? The one who was always into their business even when they told him to leave?
I never liked will, not when I was a teen not now that I’m adult
And maybe half of the things that happened wouldn’t have if Bella just had a personality out of liking will and will grew some balls
(and don’t tell me Zane said he wouldn’t have kept rikki’s secret if she dumped him cause we all know he would have never betrayed her, he was just trying to keep her with him. It was wrong I know!)
