I firmly believe Volo's and Giratina's plan of subjugating Arceus was doomed from conception, they never had the faintest prayer of actually succeeding and nothing will convince me otherwise.
HOWEVER
I have been entertaining the idea of a scenario where Akari succeeds where Volo and Giratina fail and she overthrows Arceus. She never actually held any issue with their desire to do that; she was just upset because Volo was being a butt about it- He could have simply asked for her assistance and saved them both trouble-
ANYWAY, as awesome and amazing as I know Akari is (I love all the female protagonists but she is so, so cool for going through as much as she does and I will never forgive the fanon for infantilizing her-), I don't think she could manage this in canon either, but STILL, I love to think about it.
Akari arrives at The Hall of Origin and Arceus is like, "Why do I hear final boss music? I am the final boss!"
Akari: Not anymore.
Volo and Giratina:
So Akari steals the power of Arceus for her own, begins the process of altering the world into one without pain or sorrow just as Volo wished, and also transforms herself into a Big Lady (because she secretly possesses some issues about her height-) wearing a white and gold gown.
(She's actually a size shifter, being either Lady Dimitrescu-sized or Great Fairy from Breath of the Wild-sized, depending on whether or not she feels like grisping Volo-)
And because I ship adult Akari with Volo, I imagine this unlocks something weird and beautiful in his brain.
Akari is a little mean about the fact she accomplished what Volo set out to do, she's still rather sore with him, but she proves herself to be more thoughtful and compassionate than Arceus.
Akari: I am not so cruel I would remove you from this world. I will find a place for you.
Volo, not using his brain AT ALL: *in a hopeful tone* In your grasp?
He respects the power she radiates! It's all about the POWER and only the POWER itself...
I love Volo being an obsessive little (he's not really little, he's canonically HUGE actually) lovesick freak okay-
When Volo first joined the Ginkgo Guild and was a tiny wet Litten of a boy, Tuli enjoyed tormenting him with tales of the Alpha Froslass who resides underneath the snowy grounds of the Alabaster Icelands until he would burst into tears.
Tuli: ...and her favored victims? Pretty boys like YOU! Volo: *shrieks so loudly that a series of cracks form in the lenses of the glasses Ginter is wearing* Ginter: *removes the now broken glasses from his face and tosses them aside, then sends a silent glare towards the two before threatening to rise from his chair* Tuli: That was all his doing! None of mine! *shoves a sniffling Volo towards Ginter*
Akari: Iām cold.
Volo: Here, have my jacket.
*Meanwhile*
Adaman: Iām cold.
Irida: I canāt control the weather, Adaman.
can I request some somnophilia for Volo and Akari??
The things I do for yall. Here is the promised spice.
All characters are adults, hella NSFW under the cut

Earlier I decided to check my inbox on Ao3 only to discover this absolute doozy of a comment:
"omg literally shaking rn bc this was so incredibly beautiful like actually unmatched?? your brain is so massive for writing this and i am utterly obsessed with your style!! but okay i have to speak my truth here because why is everyone in this story getting coupled up? we desperately need more single representation in these stories! literally so many millennials and gen z are completely single right now and it is the actual norm for us. choosing to depict every character in a domestic partnership honestly just pushes those old-school, traditionalist agendas that align straight with totalitarian control. marriage as an institution is basically the ultimate tool of the entitled, ruling-class elite who want to subjugate the rest of us. when we glorify romance, we just prop up these regressive, autocratic hierarchies that keep the dominant class sitting pretty while the rest of us struggle. let them be solo! let them be free from the shackles of the wealthy overlords!"
Are you seeing this, Corbeau?
Now, I'm relatively certain, at least 99% that is, this comment is either spam from an AI or someone Impidimping around. However, if there is indeed an actual person behind these words, I do wonder why they are leaving this complaint on a story which openly advertises itself right in the summary as being inspired by the otome genre.
Additionally, I can't help but chuckle a bit at the "pushing traditionalist agendas" accusation here since this comment was posted underneath the chapter where I state that Touko, who in Sisterhood's universe is a tall and physically strong woman, despises wearing dresses and skirts, preferring suits (even if they are pink), and boldly kisses the hand of N, who is decidedly not traditionally masculine. And then there's whatever Hikari/Akari and Volo have going on between them, especially after the events of postgame Legends: Arceus.
I definitely don't believe everyone should be in a romantic relationship, each person should have the right to choose whether or not this is what they want in life without opposition - but mentioning these issues in the comment section of a story that is blatantly romantic is at the very least a bizarre move. That is, if this is a human and not a bot.
Are any of the Pokemon (or their trainers) big cuddle bugs?
The most openly affectionate member of each protagonist's team is:
Stellaluna (Leaf's Clefable ā) Carmen (Kotone's Shiny Gyarados ā) Blythe (Haruka's Banette ā) Wheatley (Hikari's Rotom) Celena (Touko's Swoobat ā) Skywynne (Mei's Altaria ā) Caspian (Serena's Lapras ā) Penelope (Mizuki's Mimikyu ā) Darling (Gloria's Gourgeist ā) Sariel (Akari's Alpha Togekiss ā) Antonio (Juliana's Meowscarada ā) Bijou (Harmony's Sableye ā)
As for the protagonists themselves, the most physically affectionate among them are Kotone, Mei, and Mizuki (but Kotone is the only one who has any sense of personal space).
However, Sariel is the most affectionate PokƩmon of all! This is now a Sariel the Alpha Togekiss post!
