16. A fic that led to you making friends with the author

Most of the friends I've made in this fandom have come from a combination of commenting on their fics and then seeing them on tumblr and following and interacting with them here. I'm not sure I recall specific fics/times where this happened so I'll just give you some favorites from my besties @lachatblanche and @widgenstain :D :D :D

20. Do you want a grand adventure?

I long for a simple life, but I want to live several small to medium adventures if that makes sense. I should probably clarify that to me studying abroad counts as a medium adventure.

35. What are you missing from your life?

Autonomy. I don't have as much freedom and control over my life as I would like to.

42. Is freewill an illusion?

We have some free will but it is heavily restricted, sometimes to the point where it doesn't even make sense to talk about it. But it always exists at least in theory, as a possibility or a promise, so it is real to me.

50. What do you expect from a friend or a partner?

I don't necessarily have a list because every relationship is different (for example, you can't expect a friend who is depressed to immediatly reply to your texts or follow through on every plan), but I do think that being kind and respecting your friend's/partner's boundaries are basic but very important foundations to any friendship or romantic relationship.

63. How confident are you, really?

I've been horribly insecure for as long as I can remember and it still always seemed to get worse until last year. Now I'm either okay with myself (meaning that I don't overthink things and just... exist, which is a huge relief and it changed my perspective entirely. it did take a lot of work but it was definitely worth it. It also improved my friendships, which is something that I feel like people don't mention that often when discussing self-hatred), or I sometimes fall back into that old mindset, but I know that I just have to sit it out and let it pass, and it gets easier to do that every time.

87. Do you anger easily?

Not really. Anger comes more easily to me now than it used to, but that's because whenever I had a good reason to be angry before I would just get sad and hopeless instead. Anger, at best, is about action.

94. How would you describe yourself when you love? Do you love forcefully, unconditionally, gently, quietly, desperately?

Here you go :)

The thing about giffing GNS is that there’s a lot of colour. A lot a lot. Too much for gifs. The orange background with pink-magenta highlights, in this episode Andrew’s suit is of a blueish shade (hard to be sure with all that colour and when you go adjust them it all goes to hell), Paloma’s wearing green, the sofa’s red... you can only have 256 colours in a gif and that means something's got to give. With the orange & red theme being so strong, without locking any shades the first thing to die is Andrew’s suit. Also I like colours and contrasts to be strong, but hate when faces are very orange. So I eliminated the problem by taking the colours away. Leaving us a laughing Andrew. Hope it’s to your liking even in b&w :)

9. What are you really bad at?

I severely lack empathy, which also mostly translates into a terrible job at reading a room :,)

29. Have you ever liked someone who your friends hated?

7th - 9th grade English teacher. she had a special kind of quiet authority that the whole class just fell silent when she came in the classroom, and she never had to raise her voice. but this was not because people were afraid of her, no, it was because she was so kind. she was also terrific at teaching, in that she could make anything accessible. knowledge level didn’t matter; she took time for those struggling to pass to the ones needing more advanced material. absolutely wonderful person, too. 

i also loved my philosophy teacher in high school. i often stayed behind for like an hour after class just talking to him about stuff. fun fact: i can see traces of our (novice and not that deep, but still) discussions on the theory of knowledge in April. 21. what’s a conspiracy you believe in?

16: Are you more like your mom or your dad?

My dad, definitely. I look more like my mom but I’m as stubborn, kind, accident-prone, and sarcastic as my dad. We’re both very introverted too, and enjoy reading very much. :D

18: A reason you’ve lied to someone

To spare their feelings. I’m usually also telling people I’m fine even if I’m not, just to get out of that conversation.

48: Are you a forgiving person? Do you like being that way?

Yes, very. At least if I think the person feels really sorry. But I don’t usually forget easily, so I might not be as trusting in the future. This depends greatly on what has been done, of course.

s’Unexpected Virgin and  Accidentally Saving the Day!

My very first though reading this was “galavant au!” buuut it was a bit too much to try to work a whole AU. Still, galavant remains a big inspiration for this very silly idea:

Erik is sick. Now, he kind of went looking for it, fighting with a troll over some bridge fees rise. Erik ended in the cold water, Charles had to get him out again, and all of this to say: erik caught the troll flu.

Charles and Hank are preparing the remedy but they are missing an ingredient: some unicorn hair. Their stock dried out when they had to make fae liquor to get some information and now they are quite away from any town. And unicorns won’t let not virgins near them. None of the team qualify.

It is the moment Shaw -an old enemy they have defeated over and over but who still hopes to defeat them- tries to attack. He is captured in less than five seconds. Shaw starts trying to get the rise out of Erik, who answers with insults of his own (despite barely being able to remain seated) and it is so ridiculous that charles decides to gag Shaw. And what does he finds on Shaw’s clothes? unmistakable unicorn hair.

indeed, Shaw met a unicorn earlier and as a virgin, the unicorn was all “eh hug me, hug me!” basically.

Shaw denies everything while the team doesn’t care about that and make the remedy.

There was another idea, xavierine this time.

Charles has what is called a unicorn curse. Which means only those who already touched him or virgins can touch him or get near him. It sucks basically.

It even makes his job as a teacher complicated since he can’t meet with the parents easily.

To make matter worse, one of the kid’s father, Logan, dad of Laura, is super hot. And from Charles’ observation and what he learns by others and a few conv by tel, Logan is also a great man. But he is also a dad so no hope there.

Anyway, fast forward to the fateful day, a fire in his appartment building. The lifts of course don’t work, so Charles in his wheelchair is stuck. And the possibility of being found by a virgin fireman is low. So Charles is pretty much “guess I’ll die” when Logan appears, and carries him in his arms, and Charles swooons but also is very WTF??

Turns out Laura is a clone, and Logan never slept with anyone.

Logan’s... “love” breaks the curse.

They are happy ever after

4: Your favorite Cherik kink?

OH MAN. Is there anything that I haven’t read for these two losers?

I think I have to say my favorite is creative uses of telepathy in bed. It’s so uniquely cherik and there are so many different things to do! Of course, just standard feedback loops and mental praise ARE ALWAYS GOOD, but so are those other things. You know the ones. Sorry Erik I just don’t find your mutation that interesting in a sexual context.

Also, funny story: when I was thinking of branching out into different fandoms, I had a panicked moment where I was like ‘how can I possibly write a sexual relationship that doesn’t involve telepathy???’

11: The saddest Cherik scene you can think of that ISN’T the beach divorce?

Don’t talk to me about the looks Charles gives Erik on the plane. I’m still not over it. Partly it’s James’ face acting I’M SURE but also Charles having to confront Erik after reaching rock bottom UGH.

16: At which point did you know that you had sold your soul to Cherik?

LOL so I don’t know if there was a moment BACK THEN that I realized it--I had been floating around looking for a new fandom back in the early summer of 2011 when I decided (on a whim, at like 10pm after a long day) to go see First Class. 

BUT looking back I have a very distinct memory of sitting in a hotel in Paris. PARIS, FRANCE. That Paris. on vacation in July of 2011, reading cherik fic and trying to convince my sister to watch the leaked stream of it online with me ...
