oxygen not included's dupes have no currency and no ruling class. rimworld lets you run an honest-to-Horax organ farm but the people running the organ farm work for the common good of the organ farm, the alternative is impossible. dwarf fortress, the granddaddy of them all, used to have capitalism but it caused infinite baby debt and fps death so now dwarves yet again work according to their ability and receive according to their need

An event called the Long Night has been going for about 20 in-game days now. Apparently some kind of giant space organism has drifted in front of the sun and is blocking like 99.9% of light. Every plant not in my greenhouses is dead. It is genuinely a wasteland out there. There’s still animals out there though, because there is one ☝️ and exactly ONE thing that doesn’t require light to grow still alive that is feeding all the herbivores that have managed to hold on.

Unfortunately, that thing is hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Any animal I am not actively feeding has two choices; starve to death or exist in a constant nightmare state of shroom trips. This poor megasloth has been wandering around my colony seeing technicolor demons dancing two-step to Zac Brown’s Chicken Fried for at least 10 days. Multiple alpacas are laying outside my walls in a circle fully catatonic as we speak. The guinea pigs are developing immunity, actively evolving as a species to consume shrooms as their primary form of nutrients.

This is hell. This is biblical Armageddon.
