There are 5 in total although many only acknowledge 4. However the 5 elements are not the only elements, other cultures and other beliefs see other elements other than the wiccan ones, however for this lesson we shall only focus on the Witches (Wiccan) Elements, Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit.

Female Element
Spirit
Also known as Akasha
Resides every where and in every thing.
It is linked to all things for it is the force that unites all things.
The element of Spirit is both Masculine and Feminine
In the Human Body the Spirit and will are represented by Akasha.
The colors are (usually) purple, white or black (though any color can be used as it is part of everything)
In the Circle the Spirit is often the center of the area, so the altar can be used to represent Akasha.
Spirit is the uniting binding force with in and around everything. It connects all the elements and all of creation uniting everything as one.
The Elements are usually invoked , or summoned, called or stirred, during the beginning of every ritual and dismissed at the end. The Elements are often called the quarters as the make up the quarters of the circle, of life and creation, as well as the world, (North, East, West and South) And also called the Watch Towers, However, the watchtowers though associated with the Elements are actually a different presence altogether and will be discussed at a later time.
The elements can also be called upon individually to work a spell or some other working you may be in need of. Say you have an interview and want better communication skills, you may want to work with the Air to help you be more articulate.
As with anything, when you work with the Elements you want to do so with respect, and always leave an offering afterward.
Take a few moments in your day to see how often you actually are using Elemental energy and not even realize you are, or aren’t even meaning to. The Elements are powerful and ever present, they exist within as well as outside of each of us.

And finally, Water.
Fire associations.
Hello, this may sound rather silly but I am rather new wiccan and still studying, I was wondering does each person have a specific element to them and if so how can they tell? Thanks :)
Many people find themselves connecting with one specific element in , be it earth, air, fire, water or spirit. Though this does not mean that you have to be only one element; It means that there's usually one element that you connect with more than the others.Finding one's personal element is a process that can take a while and can be done through introspective exercises, gathering others' opinions, etc. or it can come easily. There are several ways to find out your element.
The first thing to find out is what astrological sun sign are you and which element is your astrological sun sign connected with? Here's a quick list of signs & element connections:
Capricorn - EarthAquarius - AirPisces - WaterAries - FireTaurus - EarthGemini - AirCancer - WaterLeo - FireVirgo - EarthLibra - AirScorpio - WaterSagittarius - Fire
Some people find that this works for them and that they do feel connected to that element.
Another way would be to cast a circle and spent time meditating on the elements while in the circle. Some people find it helpful to sit or stand in front of the different elements candles to do this.
