part i of @lisadenglerβs list of film recommendations
To further educate myself on the history of racism in the United States and how it is still present to this day, here is my first list (*of many), in the form of films. The films on this list are created primarily by black directors and black artists, telling stories of black voices, a distinction that seems obvious but I find important to mention as this is the beginning of my continuous support of films by people of color. I vow to actively seek out films told and created by marginalized groups, as well as to stay informed on the various human rights issues that are told time and time again through documentaries. I vow to no longer turn a blind eye.
