I as a character in a whodunit drop things at dramatic moments. The World Famous Detective try as they might attempts to suss out what my problem is. That I am merely clumsy and have to coordination of a guppy in a sandbox does not cross thier mind.

This book does an excellent job of sampling "the extraordinary reach of Rome across both seas and centuries". The variety of detectives helped carry those one or two stories that weren't as fresh as the rest. Allow me to set the scene. When I say 'yacht', I certainly do not wish you to picture sails. The yachts that line the wharf of the old port in Cannes are all motorised gin palaces. Large white creatures, luring you inside with their curvaceous lines and their promise of adventure. And the boats are fairly attractive too.
