World Food Day is a day of action dedicated to tackling global hunger. Held annually on 16th October, people from around the world come together to declare their commitment to eradicate worldwide hunger from our lifetime. Worldwide awareness and action is needed for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all. The focus of the day is that food is a basic and fundamental human right. Yet, in a world of billions, 805 million people worldwide live with chronic hunger, 60% women and almost five million children under the age of five die of malnutrition-related causes every day. Our team is taking action by undertaking training at the Songhaï regional centre in #Benin for a few months to learn about zero waste, sustainable farming methods that integrate producing agricultural crops, raising livestock and fish, and producing bio energy, to enhance our agriculture production sites in the sub region and the lives of women and girls we work with. #wfd2017 #zerohunger #SDGs @unfao @farm_africa @worldfoodprogramme_official @sharethemeal (at Centre Songhaï)

Humans have always moved around the world looking for something different or better. Some people leave their home for a different experience, a better job or to reunite with family. However, some feel like they have no choice because they do not have enough food, cannot make enough money to support themselves and their families or have lost everything.
