Blog Entry #2
Insights for this Week: Vacation Blogs
A change I got with this homework is that I’m definitely more aware now of how I treat myself. When doing the activities I tried to make sure I was comfortable and happy, and I practiced mindfulness.
Honestly though, aside from that, I don’t really feel any difference this week compared to any other week I’ve had, and maybe its because I’m used to doing things that I enjoy.
Usually I give myself breaks and it’s because if I don’t feel mentally okay I cannot do my works properly. So I always try to place my mental health first before school works. The problem I face however, is the amount of time I give myself breaks. Sometimes, if I enjoy too much I end up procrastinating but if I don’t take frequent breaks, either my mind can’t focus or I go into overdrive mode where I end up feeling guilty to take even 30 minutes of rest.
This activity therefore made me realize that I need to find a sweet spot between my mental health and academics. I have to learn how to balance and manage my time. By doing so, I think it will just overall make me a more productive person because I personally don’t believe that a person is productive if a person does not give their best on their work and to create good work, Its important to be mentally happy.
Another learning I got is that doing good creates meaningful memories. Just like the experience I had with the prisoners of New Bilibid, helping others really creates a positive aura that benefits everyone including yourself. This is also the same with doing bad though. That if you do wrong, it gives off a negative aura that can ruin the experience and memory. So I guess, this is a reason on why a lot of people believes that if you do good, you will be more happy.
