/// Week Four Roundup ///
✦ softer than satin by cinnamons / @sunbellylou
[E, 4k, Louis/Joel Miller (The Last of Us), fic post]
“Wanna go back to bed,” Louis whispered languidly, voice partly muffled by his boyfriend’s lips on his. “Mm, but we just got up, baby,” Joel murmured. Lips touching softly with each syllable. Hands groping the soft flesh around Louis’ hips, kneading at the skin there and feeling his curves.
✦ Daydream by @allwaswell16
[T, 2k, Louis/Zayn, fic post]
Every Thursday, Louis nods hello to her fellow regulars at Horan’s Cafe, one of whom is the woman of her dreams.
OH, and this is currently how my last submission for the STVBB is going! Looks like I'll be able to finish on time this week! Plus Im proud of how far i've come already, from flat headshots to full bodies, with backgrounds, that hopefully no longer look flat when im done!
How is this Real?
This has been my permanent workspace for quite a while now (look at that little feature of my Tumblr page hehe inception). It’s also been where I’ve been spending a lot of time, now that we’re all in quarantine. The pandemic of coronavirus still feels unreal, like something out of a dystopian film set in the year 2458. It feels strange having the whole family at home all day. Everything feels strange.
University life has been greatly affected by this virus, having all face-to-face classes and lectures cancelled. From having to take the train for 40 min almost every morning to the city, I now travel a total of one metre to my desk to take online class. Adapting to Collaborate Ultra has been interesting, and worked a lot better than I expected. We can still ask questions, turn on our video and audio, share our screens and collaborate in small groups with peers. We are very lucky to be living in such a digital age through all this, allowing us all to still stay connected. Heck, I even did a Zumba workout with a friend this morning via a Facebook video call. It would have taken a designer to help create Collaborate Ultra, which just further reinforces how important design is in helping people’s lives become easier. All the functions that are clearly laid out make this transition so much easier.
It’s been a bit of a challenge to go to uni and do uni work without the motivation of people physically around me. I usually work best when I have people around me also working, as I get less distracted. Instead, I’ve had to set specific times for work and leisure to keep me on track. Already having set times for live online classes has been helpful. Self-disciplining myself to do work has been made easier by having schedules breaks, and something to look forward to after, such as taking a walk outside as a reward. Having my workspace in my naturally-lit bedroom, many plants, bright colours, music playing and lots of snacks has really helped with my productivity in such a mentally stimulating environment, making work even more enjoyable. My current work situation could be related to the working life of a freelancer, a potential job I could have in the future as a designer. Freelancers too have to self-regulate their work, and be in charge of themselves with no others telling them what to do. So in a way, this situation has been a good way for me to see what my working lifestyle could be like, and has helped me learn good techniques for productivity.
2019 Building Challenge ! - Build 04 - Mayoral Mansion!
So you’ve probably seen my house in Lynnport before, but I actually built it for this weekly challenge and decided to recreate it on @peachcraftmc (a lovely server)!

SAUL LEITER
American artist Saul Leiter’s work reflects inner contemplation, influenced by his background in painting, particularly in colour, framing, and composition. His photography stands out for its understated, contemplative nature, distinct from the intense street photography of his time. Leiter often captured everyday moments—people in the rain, views through glass, or fragmented reflections—imbued with elegance and intrigue.
Central to the quiet allure of his images, lighting was subtle and atmospheric, enhancing the calm mood of his images. He primarily used soft, diffused light to create a serene atmosphere in his work. Leiter often embraced the light found in everyday settings, avoiding harsh contrasts and sharpness typical of conventional photography.
He used light and shadows to add depth and interest, often shooting through windows or rain-soaked surfaces to create reflections of hidden scenes. Backlighting created silhouettes and halos around subjects, introducing mystery and abstraction, with a dreamlike quality that blurred the lines between subject and background. He sometimes opted for soft focus, allowing light to obscure details, enhancing the painterly quality of his work. This approach evoked a sense of nostalgia, inviting emotional connection over technical perfection. Furthermore, Leiter utilised artificial street lighting and neon signs to create dynamic lighting effects, which added mood and atmosphere to his compositions.
WILLIAM COUPON
American photographer William Coupon, known for his evocative portraits, has captured tribal communities, political figures, and celebrities using painted backdrops and formal compositions. He draws inspiration from Dutch masters like Rembrandt and Holbein.
To enhance the dramatic quality of his portraits, Coupon uses lighting to add depth, mood, and texture. He often employs high-contrast lighting to create strong shadows and highlights, emphasising facial expressions in a way reminiscent of Renaissance and Baroque art. For a softer, more refined look, he uses soft lighting for a serene portrayal of his subjects. Coupon also uses multiple light sources, like key and fill lights, to highlight certain areas while maintaining balance in the image. Additionally, he lights the background to create atmosphere and add visual interest to the overall composition.
