As I was going through the blogs nominated by Knack Weekend in the category ‘City’, I realized that, in order to actually judge the quality of a city blog, one needs to know the city being described. Consequently, my selection from the city blogs is rather short but I added some blogs of the cities I lived in.

  Leuven

After almost four years of living and loving Leuven as a student (minus half a year due to my Erasmus in Poland) I dare say that I do know the city a bit by now. Of course it has changed a lot since I graduated from uni almost three years ago. Everyone knows a city in their own way. Leuven is a student city and because of that is that many students only know Leuven in a very limited way. This blog helps to explore Leuven beyond students and Stella.

Although I have never actually lived in Brussels, I have lived right next to it for almost my entire life. Brussel Blogt was one of the finalists of the Knack Weekend Blog Awards.

For one year and a half Kraków was my home and my love. Several times a year I feel the burning desire to return to Poland and usually that means a visit to my beloved Kraków.

Going with a friend for coffee is one of my favourite ways to meet up. Having a coffee is almost as good as breakfast, but then without the calorie overdose. There are too many bars and nice coffee places in Kraków for a lifetime, but that does not mean you should not try to visit them all.

I love Food. I love Canterbury. There you have it: chemistry.

When it comes to girly things, I have my moments. But when these moments arise, they come crashing down and get me all giddy and pink lonving with a sweet flower scent. 

A while ago I stated that I would research the finalists from the Knack Blog Awards and give my favourites for everyone category. Of course, straight afterwards, my schedule became impossible and during the few free moments I had I became extremely lazy. But here I am, finally, with my selection for the first category: beauty.

Number 1: Nails and Cupcakes

There can be no better combination: cosmetics and candy, feel and flavour, sense and sin! The best of two worlds! I got some very nice ideas for coming food parties and I love the layout of the blog. The design is feminine yet bright and not over the top. The posts are in English, which is perfect for me as this makes it all the more easy to share my findings with my international friends. The pictures are of high quality, I just want to keep on scrolling down (well, and eat all the delicious things displayed).

Number 2: Snow White Glamour

A bit more girly than the previous one (and oh my, how pink scares me sometimes) but the products Hanne (who is behind this blog) chooses are TOTALLY me. I love every single one of them and in fact I already knew some of the ‘hidden treasures’ presented here. The blog is in Dutch so it will give me some translate work, but for the sheer awesomeness of some of the products I will be more than happy to do so.

Number 3: Joliette 

I like the minimalistic-yet-very-trendy style of this blog and the bilingual posts are a big plus. The tags at the bottom make it very easy to quickly go spot some of your favourite products (like nailpolish in my case). The links to the beauty and fashion blogs this blogster follows will definitely be checked out in the future!

Special: Suriel 

Because it’s kinda out of context and yet it is not: it gathers pretty things. Like hairstyles I want to try out immediately. Or amazing pictures from a recent trip to NY. Or an instagram compilation of – make a guess – pretty things.

So, the 28 of september, a small group organizes something calles "Antwerp Fashion Night", or AFN. The concept is that people will be able to shop at selected stores util 10 o' clock that evening.

Before the go shopping, they will be able to get their make-up done, there hair, and receive styling advice and help from a personal shopper.

Afterwards they will be able to enjoy music and drinks at an afterparty (the location seems to have slipped my mind)

The people needed some pictures for the official press release, those pictures will be puvbliched in the september issue of weekend knack. And the make-up for those pictures will be done by you'res truly.

When the magazine is released, I will upload both the original pictures, and the magazine scans.
