Webcomic stuffs... something out of the ordinary.
Now to be heading off to work.
TDOR Webomics Project
So, Transgender Day of Remembrance is coming up, and with it the Webcomics Project.
If you like making comics and making a difference, check it out. Here's the description from the archive site (run by the ever-excellent Laura Seabrook):
"The Webcomics Project began in October 2004 as an event for the 6th Annual Transgender Day of Remembrance. Originally just an idea for a cross over comic between Venus Envy (by Erin Lindsey) and Closetspace (by Jenn Dolari), it quickly expanded to nine comics in its first year, and to fourteen in 2005. This site is a permanent gallery of those images, hopefully raising awareness that innocents are being killed, and that there are people out there who care.
Participating contributors draw and publish a relevant webcomic or image for the day (or equivalent date, depending on schedule) with links to other contributors and/or the archive. The main thing is to educate the readership of each person's webcomic or blog about the issues listed above.
So, the project as such isn't this archive - rather it's the collection of contributors webcomics, blogs and sites at the time all with the unified theme of getting the message out there - a real time event (albeit a slower one over a week or so), because eventually each contributor will have new images, new subjects at those pages and sites, as time goes on (and until next year).
So why webcomics? Because we are artists, writers, creators, and storytellers, and this is (among other things) what we do. If you want to join in the next event, please go to the Current Project page."
Anyone out there still interested in contributing? The more artists, the better. You can contact Laura or drop me a note if you've got any questions!
