In my Kevin Day feelings tonight. Do you think this kid ever got time to mourn the fact that he never gets to keep anything? When he accepted Neil's death wish with just: "every night". He knew he was bound to lose a.. friend? A heart that beat a similar drum to his, a mind he felt connected to, a talent's future he wished to nourish was doomed to be whiped off the map. And he had to accept and just sit back and wait until it happened. Was it easy? All the months that came after their promise, Kevin feeling the pressure of his own game, his enemies drawing closer, his brother whom he dearly loved closing in on him, Neil's imminent dissapearance approaching closer by the second, and all the while knowing he left Jean behind. Knowing that Jean suffered for both of them in some capacity in that cage, the cage Kevin had to lock himself in after his mom died. This kid, lost his mom at such a young age and gripped the sport she created so tightly, a last resort to honour and remember her? When he ran away he seeked refuge with his dad, yet refused to be candid with him and offer the full truth. To offer himself fully, that he is in fact his son. This kid has given up so much, that when Neil essentialy asked to give up on him, maybe Kevin being so used to it embraced it quicker because time for mourning was something he was never allowed. But maybe there were quiet moments where he daydreamed about what could have been. All of them, together, playing exy, Jean, Andrew, Neil, Riko. And maybe he indulged these thoughts a little bit, all the while not being sure why he did so.
