Getting promoted to Archivist is the weirdest thing to happen to Beau since she joined the Cobalt Soul. The archives are in chaos, the co-workers are kind of assholes, and the work is nothing but sifting through fake ghost story bullshit.

That is, until a couple of strange statements turn into an actual-real series of monster hunts, and from there Beau's life only gets weirder.

“There aren’t vampires?” Stiles asks, disappointed. “Then why are they looking at me like I’m some kinda tasty sausage? Snausage?” He laughs at his own joke.

Derek shakes his head, tugs Stiles to him as people pass.

Stiles nods towards Derek’s touch in question.

“Everyone is looking because you’re an unclaimed human at the West Coast Werewolf Convention.” Derek puts his hand to the back of Stiles’s neck, like it’s enough.

“You trying to claim me?” Stiles teases, but the room is suddenly quieter and Derek’s eyes more intense.

“Don’t ask unless you want me to.”

The West Coast Werewolf Convention (WCWC, Stiles hates it) is more of a sausage-fest that Stiles expects it to be. He knows Derek’s mother was his alpha, then his sister Laura. And Cora wasn’t alpha, but still. Maybe that’s given him a skewed perspective on how many female werewolves there are.

A lot of dudes are looking at him.

Women are, too. Just fewer.

“There aren’t vampires, are there?”

Derek frowns. “What?”

“I saw a bite on some dude’s neck and he was a werewolf so shouldn’t that, like, heal?”
