Derek Hale was born without any soulmate marks. It’s not unusual for some people to have soulmates younger than they are, but as soon as Derek was aware of the existence of Soulmarks he woke up every day to check if something had appeared on his skin.
He was 5 years old when it happened. He woke up in the middle of the night, his left wrist burning as if a million tiny needles were piercing his skin. Derek watched with awe as the lines appeared on his skin, it looked like a small constellation. If he’d seen it in the sky, he would’ve guessed there was a story behind it.
He called for his mother when the pain didn’t stop immediately. Was it supposed to hurt like that? Maybe magic was being done on him.
“In a way, it’s a kind of magic,” she explained when he calmed down. “You will understand it when you meet your soulmate.”
From that day onward, every time he got a glimpse of someone’s Soulmark he wondered if they had the twin to his own, even when his mother told him his soulmate was still a baby.
A little over a year later, a second Mark appeared on his left wrist. When he told his mother, she smiled at him.
“Some people are fortunate enough to have more than one soulmate,” she said. “Sometimes another person comes into your life and they become important enough to make themselves at home under your skin.”

“Please stop fidgeting,” Lydia said without taking her eyes from the easel.
“I’m not fidgeting,” Kira replied, suspiciously fast.
Lydia took a look at the girls and saw that the light was reflected differently on Kira’s hair. She definitely moved.
“Girls, you volunteered to do this, I could’ve hired a professional model.”
“No, no, no professional model needed,” Malia added, moving a stray hair out of her face. “I’m not even tired yet.”
Earlier that day, they had agreed to help her in her nude project for her drawing class, even after Lydia told them she wanted to do something bold and daring that would make it to her portfolio. What she meant was you’ll have to hold a somewhat uncomfortable position for a long time. Right now, Kira was lounging on their sofa, occasionally eating from the fruit bowl she placed for them before they started. Malia, with her back to her was leaning on her left arm, lounging in the opposite direction Kira was. It was a beautiful view and Lydia would’ve loved to join them and do all sorts of naughty things with them.
Instead, she sat in front of the easel sketching on charcoal the final piece. She loved her girlfriends but they made for lousy models for a project such as this one.
Kira moved to get her hair out the way and Lydia had to put the charcoal pencil down.
“Kira,” she began, “you don’t have to do this if you’re uncomfortable.”
“But—”
“I love you, and you’re one of my favorite people to photograph, but this might not be your niche.”
Malia sat up, completely ruining the vibe Lydia was going for. “I think we’d be better at this if there was some prize waiting for us on the other side.”
“I don’t work well under pressure,” Lydia arched an eyebrow in Malias’s direction. “Nor do I work well when the model ruins the perfect pose she was in.”
“I can do it again,” she replied.
Malia stretched her arms and her neck, and went back to the lounging position she was in before, turning her face just so, leaning on her left arm just a little bit too much, but otherwise perfect.
“If you stay still, I will finish this faster and we can all be naked then,” said Lydia.
“Do you promise?” Malia asked.
“I swear.”
An hour later, the light filtering through the window was her signal to put the charcoal pencil down. Lydia looked at her drawing, then at her girlfriends: there was no way to do justice to their beauty, but she’d keep trying for as long as they'd let her.
When she stood up, both girls turned to look at her. “I’m done for the day. You can follow me to the bed if you’d like.”
To drive her point home, she took off her skirt and dropped it on the floor, quickly followed by her blouse; then she turned around, confident in the knowledge that her girlfriends would follow her.

“Yes, you both look adorable, but can I please have my clothes back?” asks Scott, standing next to the closet where he couldn’t find a pair of sweatpants because he still hasn’t done laundry while one of his girlfriends stood on the other side of the room wearing his last clean pair.
Malia, who is only wearing a sports bra and Scott’s pants, doesn’t look sorry. “I’m going on a run,” she says as if that explains things. In a way, it does. Scott has a feeling Malia hasn’t done laundry either.
“What about my hoodie?” he asks in Lydia’s direction, giving her his best pout.
“This is Stiles’,” she replies.
“No, it’s not.” The hoodie in question has his name on the back, a leftover from his lacrosse days.
“Stiles was wearing it yesterday. It’s Stiles’,” she says with finality that doesn’t leave room for any discussion.

It’s an unusually cold day in Beacon Hills, one of those days where the rain threatens to pour like a living presence but the release of the storm never comes. Stiles refuses to leave the house on principle, as one of the humans who can slip and fall on their face when the rain decides to finally come. The soft light of the mid afternoon floods his room, giving him a wonderful view of Derek’s back sleeping form next to him.
Derek is sleeping off the afterglow —as he usually does— and Stiles, restless as he gets, decides to text someone to come take him out of the misery of being alone in the rain. Scott is more than happy to take his mom’s car, drag Isaac with him, and pick up Allison on his way.
“How come Derek is not with you?” asks Allison when he opens the door for them.
“He’s upstairs. I wore him out. Hi,” he greets. Allison gives him a short peck on the lips, touching her hand to his cheek, leaving a soft caress as she makes her way inside the house.
“You can’t wear out a werewolf, Stiles,” Isaac says confidently.
“You clearly have never fucked Stiles,” adds Scott, moving past him to give Stiles a chaste kiss on the cheek.
“And I intend to keep it that way,” Isaac adds, playfully nudging Stiles away when he makes a kissy face at him.
Comfortable in Stiles’ home as if it were their own, Allison goes directly to the kitchen to scout for snacks while Isaac takes his shoes off and makes a beeline for the tv, where Scott is already setting up the playstation.
“Hey, Stiles? I texted Lydia to bring us some snacks, your cupboard is severely lacking in that department,” Allison says from the kitchen.
“I’m trying to keep my dad’s heart healthy, thank you very much,” he says defensively. “And you guys too. Do you know how much sodium is on those things?”
“Stiles, we’ve all seen you eat funyuns,” Scott calls from the tv, going through Stiles’ games.
“Fine. I buy my snacks as needed, okay?”
Allison comes out of the kitchen snacking on a carrot dipped in peanut butter. She comes up to Stiles and offers him a bite, which he takes.

Stiles wakes up with a headache forming behind his eyelids. The floor is cold under him and he wonders who got to him this time. He’s goddamn tired of being kidnapped for being the easy target in a werewolf pack. Not as easy as he used to be, but still easy enough that kidnappings are almost an annual tradition for him.
Once he opens his eyes he realizes he’s in a basement, and a quick body assessment turns up that he’s also got a foot shackled to a radiator. Awesome. Just what he needed: a Jigsaw copycat. He quickly scans the room for other people but he’s alone, no other Saw traps to be seen either.
He tries to unlock the shackles on his leg when a voice pierces through the silence, “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”
A robed woman walks down the steps leading to the basement without making any sound. The hairs on the back of his arms stand up immediately. Stiles sits up as straight as he can, his headache pounding as he does so.
