(aka a Clegan When Harry Met Sally AU)
Fresh out of college, Gale Cleven embarks on a roadtrip to New York with a friend of a friend, John Egan.
Egan is obnoxious: noisy where Gale is quiet, messy where Gale is tidy, he keeps flirting with Gale the whole time, even giving him a stupid nickname deriving from his own. He drives Gale mad and not in a good way.
He's firmly convinced that they will never be friends because he thinks Gale's attractive, and two people cannot be friends when there's attraction in the midsts, something more is bound to happen — that's no biggie for Gale, honestly, since he never intended to keep in touch with John.
Once they reach New York they part ways, thinking they'll probably never meet again; but their paths are now fated to cross again and again through the years, first in passing and then to build a strong friendship despite John's initial thinking.
He must have been wrong: even if they find each other attractive, two people can be just friends.
But can they, really?
