Hmm difficult q u estion for Trent. I cannot decide. I do have a ponysona like every sane person. They are currently in the works.
hello! do you have any trans Willy Wonka art, ideas, or fanfic that you would be willing to share with a new fan of this concept? 🍫
hiii! what an awesome question. unfortunately, there isn't much to share. the fandom isn't very big, at least not in the typical social media sense, especially these days. the only fanwork that i know of - and have actually engaged with - that portrays wonka as explicitly trans is my own fic, heaven on their minds. however, i don't see wonka as exclusively a trans man or trans masc; and recently, i've actually been more inclined to think of the character as trans femme.
i'm looking now, and there are a few fics for the 2023 version with the trans wonka tag, but i tend to avoid everything having to do with that movie.
as i've written countless times on here, i'm more interested in how people perceive the character based on their own favourite renditions of the canon. seeing people's (often very different) headcanons is the most fun part for me, especially when it comes to how wonka is perceived in popular culture as less of a character from one isolated piece media and more of an archetype that has been adapted so many different times, very like sherlock holmes. the musical is especially mouldable, often depending on the country in which it's being performed, and costumes have dabbled all over the masc to femme spectrum, despite the character always being portrayed as Male. the japanese production especially has really leaned into more traditionally femme aspects, including some really cool nail art.
so, yeah. i guess my answer is to explore different adaptations and see which one speaks to you! i highly recommend the west end version with alex jennings and the uk tour with gareth snook. my favs<3
