Wayne June, the famed narrator of the Darkest Dungeon games, has died. June's passing was announced on Bluesky by Darkest Dungeon creative director Chris Bourassa, who described June as "ancestor, academic, artist, and friend."
RIP. You know the voice even if you don't know the name.
A Memorial to Hope
Last week Red Hook Studios announced the tragic death of Wayne June, narrator of Darkest Dungeon, and Darkest Dungeon 2.
Today we honor his passing, and celebrate the man who taught us, even if only indirectly, to always hold onto hope.

Fucking burnouts man. Why does my soul burn down? Where is the fuel coming from? Where does that energy even go? It's pointless, and painful, and unproductive, and exhausting.
If my inner world had a visual representation, it would be a charred valley with specks of ruins here and there. That's what you get for burning down the things you don't like in yourself, it becomes a bad habit. The endless cycle of build -> break -> burn. Immolation as a way of life.
And worst, it's all unseen. At least let me convert my stress and anxiety and self-destructing tendencies to something tangible. I wouldn't say no to be able to light a cigarette with my stress powers.
Oh well. If I can't break the cycle, I might as well revel in it

RIP Wayne June, I know nothing about the man but his voice acting in both Darkest Dungeon games were damn good
I bought the sequel yesterday night and I’m still playing through it, and what a time to get back into the series

Edit: TO BE CLEAR I did not make this. It was made by someone on Reddit, but I can't find out who anymore. If I had made it, I would correct a couple of errors. Most notably: rather than being among the earliest on the list, the Occultist should actually be the latest as he appears to be a member of the Spiritualist movement of the late 19th-early 20th century. Al-Hazared is likely a name he adopted in reference to the famed author of the Necronomicon.
