she’s had that anxiety for what feels like as long as she can remember, and it’s surely some kind of paradoxical that she’s afraid of the people who are supposedly there to help her. ( maybe that says more about her than it does about them. )

it’s making it a little difficult to make eye contact, either way, and she clears her throat, squares her shoulders in her apartment’s doorway, lifts her gaze to try again.

callie didn’t respond verbally at first, but she reached over andturned on the lamp on the hotel’s bedside table. she blinked atthe sudden brightness while her eyes readjusted. she could feelthe other woman’s thoughts swirling, slowly, post-coital hazebreaking through the static.

There’s no great, anxious rush, no telling Beau she’ll be okay, no reassuring words or touches or anything of the like– but Elise has let her in and she’s listening and, past all of that serious, she does look concerned.

        ‘ What’s wrong? ’

“Right, right... composure.” At least, she tried to convince herself to remain composed. It took quite a few deep breaths and quite the pause to boot before she was even able to begin to explain; even then she remained hesitant.
