So I thought that I had a post about making a kilt for my S/O for the wedding he's a groomsman in, and I was gonna add this to that post as an update but I can't find it. So here:
It is what the lads call a "self-color kilt" (solid color) cuz the bride didn't like any of the gray tartans that I was able to find. The line of the fell is a bit wobbly cuz it's quite hard to try to match and hand sew each individual pleat when you have no stripes in the weave for reference. But I will fix that when I'm done with all the pleats.
I have 20 pleats sewn (21 folded) out of 37, so it's coming along. Definitely won't have all the pleats done by the start of the semester tomorrow unfortunately, but my tendons just can't help being little shits.
In case any of my followers eventually find themselves in a hyperfixation rabbit hole on kilt-making, The Art of Kiltmaking has been super helpful. It's literally a step-by-step guide with all the terminology and ways to determine proper kilt fit, how to do alterations, etc.
