These Christmas Spice Delights are aromatic and nutty cookies that bring warmth and joy to your holiday season.
Ingredients: 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1 teaspoon baking powder. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg. 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves. 1 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/2 teaspoon almond extract. 1/2 teaspoon orange zest. 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts e.g. pecans, walnuts. Powdered sugar, for dusting.
Instructions: Put the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in a medium bowl and mix them together with a whisk. When the butter is soft, put it in a separate large bowl and mix it with the sugar until it is light and fluffy. Add the egg, vanilla extract, almond extract, and orange zest and beat until everything is well mixed. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ones, mixing only until everything is combined. Add the chopped nuts and mix them in. Make a log out of each half of the dough. Cover with plastic wrap and put in the fridge for at least two hours, or until it gets firm. Warm the oven up to 350F 175C and put parchment paper on baking sheets. Put the chilled dough logs on the baking sheets that have been prepared. Then cut the logs into rounds that are 1/4 inch thick. For 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden. After baking, let the cookies cool for a few minutes on the baking sheets. Then, move them to a wire rack to cool completely. After the cookies have cooled, sprinkle them with powdered sugar.
