Today in Gion Kobu: Misedashi of Yuriha and Tatsuha from the Tama Okiya!
Yuriha and Tatsuha debuted under Geiko Takeha, an absolute legend in Gion Kobu and beyond. She debuted in 1950 and has a grand total of 67 years of experience. She started the famous -ha-name-line of Gion Kobu.
Takeha is already in her eighties and hasn’t taken a girl under her wings since 1995. That she took upon two younger sisters at this age must mean that they are two very special and talented young girls.
What a comeback for the Tama Okiya! After losing three of their most popular Maiko in one year, they come back with two new Maiko under the famous Takeha!
And how beautiful they are, too! I’m looking forward to seeing more of them in the future a lot!
Congratulation Yuriha and Tatsuha, and all the best wishes for your career!
