Lorian & Leonar’s Magical Adventure
Prologue
Lorian stood in his basement, staring at the metallic gateway that he had been slaving over for months. It was a marvel of engineering - something typically beyond his ken - but with some tampering and spell work he'd made it work to serve his needs.
The walls of the basement, usually bare or covered with tools and shelves, had since been completely covered with star charts, constellations, divining notes, and complex mathematical equations. The outside of the house, too, had been drastically altered. Pipes pumped water from the nearby river down into the basement, through a series of funnelling tubes that fed into the gateway, as well as wires from the ground that provided a source of arcane from a leyline that ran under the foundation. Whatever Lorian had been up to, it definitely involved the new gate, and it required a lot of power.
I’m a day late for pride month, but here is Kale and Wrathion celebrating, drawn by the lovely @slwtawn whose blog I can’t find atm. I will tag him when I get home lol!
Hello, all!
I don't share much about my Warcraft-related OCs because I don't feel very comfortable (I love trolls, especially Zandalari, but my favorite Warcraft characters are Jaina, Vol'Jin and Cairne, so because of BfA people don't accept very well me loving Jaina and the Zandalaris at the same time, lol), but I thought it would be cool to share a little about my OCs! :D

Moonpie Solves A Mystery
Moonpie flopped onto the couch with a sigh. She was glistening with sweat from her performance and still slowing her breathing from the excitement and physical effort. She closed her eyes and sighed as she remembered the cheers from the audience and the thrill of feeling the energy of the crowd. Nothing quite like it. Not the same intensity as a battle against the forces of the Fel or whatever dark forces were threatening the races of Light on any given day. But a different flavor, the mixture of anxiety and arousal creating a unique profile for the mind and body. A luxury for Moonpie to be able to access both to keep her long life interesting.
She sipped her cocktail and reclined in the dark space of her booth and watched the moving bodies in the club. She scoped out which patrons were intriguing, attractive, or entertaining. She supposed the hunt for a partner (or partners) for the night was yet a third enjoyable experience of anxiety and arousal for her. From among the crowd a lithe Kaldorei woman separated herself and walked - no stalked - towards Moonpie. Moonpie locked eyes with her and took a deep breath as she ran her eyes over the woman. She was well-dressed, clearly wealthy, gorgeous, and confident in herself. Moonpie cracked a small smile at the thought of all the possibilities for the evening. However, she was more than a little disappointed when the woman started off with “Are you, Vindicator Celeste of the Horns of Retribution Private Investigators? I have a case for you.” Oh, Moonpie thought. Work, not play. Sigh.
“Yes, ma’am. I am. Although my partner is more the detective than myself. But how can I help you?” Moonpie sat up straight and put on a friendly smile. Just because she would much rather be meeting this lady for recreation than occupation doesn't mean she can't deliver on some semblance of professionalism.
The elf slid on to the couch next to Moonpie. “My lover is missing. And so is one of my family’s heirlooms. I do not know if my lover is the thief or a victim. I want you to figure that out as well as recover both. If he is a thief, I want him to answer for it. If he is a victim, I want him rescued. The heirloom must be recovered regardless.” She delivered her plight with a businesslike tone as if either option was equally acceptable to her.
Moonpie nodded as she listened. “Ok Miss…?” “Serai ” “Miss Serai. We are happy to help you. What can you tell me about the heirloom, your lover, and when both were last seen?”
Moonpie interviewed Serai as best she could. Being realistic, she really was the lesser detective of the firm. Bluntly put she was, at best, a hobbyist.. She mostly served as sounding board to her partner, Ryodari Fateshifter, and watched his back to make sure he didn't get ambushed and murdered on the more dangerous cases. Here was her opportunity to prove herself, mostly to herself.
Serai said she had gone away to visit some family and left her lover, a human named Mark Tallwood, living in her home. The heirloom is a blue-gemmed amulet he had taken a liking to and had her permission to wear. When Serai returned from her journey she found the home empty, with Mark and amulet gone. Her home was in a rather sparsely populated area so no particularly close neighbors to give her much insight as to what may have happened. There was no sign of struggle or break in. The home was tidy as usual but she said she has some enchantments in place that take care of dust and what not so some evidence may have been erased by them.
Moonpie asked more about the man. What was his profession? Where was he from? Any known enemies or debts? Serai struggled a bit to recall. It seems theirs was a more… physical connection and she hadn't asked that many details of his history. She knew he was from Westfall and little else. In general Moonpie was picking up more on Serai’s personality and getting the sense she wasn’t a very attentive person in general. She had a theory. She told Serai she would look into the matter and agreed upon the standard contract fees and so on. After Serai went on her way, Moonpie’s party mood had dimmed somewhat. “Stupid work encroaching on my play time” she grumbled. She concluded to finish her cocktail, call it an early night, and look into this matter in the morning.
The trip to Westfall was relatively quick thanks to the many portals between the major cities and access to flying gryphons from Stormwind. She made a brief detour to visit a murloc village she knew along the way. They are really a rather jovial bunch once you get to know them. After some tea and snacks with Grr’oggle’rr, she finished the trip to Westfall.
The people of the area were friendly enough answering her questions, if a little intimidated by her. This area was still largely rural and almost entirely human so a Draenei Vindicator was something very foreign and suspect. The Defias Brotherhood was still active in the area. Could be a source for fencing the goods, she thought. After asking around and following lead to lead, she found out the family Tallwood had a farm near the coast. She took off for the location she’d been given.
As the paladin approached the farm house a mother and young girl came out to see who their visitor was. The mother was wary but the little girl was bold as children often are. Moonpie introduced herself.
“Hello there. My name is Vindicator Celeste, but you can call me Moonpie. What is your name?”
The girl wrinkled her nose at Moonpie’s introduction “Moonpie is a weird name! My name is
Serai Tallwood. My mom is up there, her name is Mom but some people call her Miriam.”
“Your name is Serai, is it? What an interesting coincidence. Do you have a relative named Mark? I am looking for him.”
“Do you mean Great Uncle Mark? He’s…” The girl was interrupted by her mother’s approach.
“Mark Tallwood has passed away, several years ago, Vindicator” the woman said with a puzzled look on her face. “What business would you have with an old man?”
Moonpie was briefly surprised that the fleeting theory she’d had last night might be true. “Years ago? An old man, you say? Do you mind if I ask for more details, ma’am?”
Ultimately, Moonpie discovered that Serai’s “family visit” took a bit longer than she had realized, and the lives of humans are indeed quite fleeting to the likes of elves who live for millenia (as do Draenei). For those long lived races, some individuals are better at the awareness of passing time than others. Moonpie had been very involved in the wars and happenings of the recent years which kept her anchored in the present. Unsurprisingly, Lady Serai was more flighty and was away much longer than she had realized.
Additionally after she was gone much longer than he had expected, he tried to look for her. He knew where she had sailed from and to. He spent his savings trying to follow her trail, although he was far behind. He knew she had made it to her home in Teldrassil (before the burning). She was even seen in the harbor town of Auberdine but she didn't get on the boat back to the Eastern Kingdoms. He tried to find leads but the search went cold and he ran out of money. He couldn't bear the thought of selling the amulet, so he went back to their shared home and waited a few more years. When she never turned up and none of his inquiries yielded further information he concluded she had run afoul of monsters or Horde or things unknown.Heartbroken and aging, Mark returned home. He kept the amulet with him in remembrance of her. And he was buried with it when he passed away of natural causes a few years ago.
Moonpie returned to the city and contacted Serai at the location she had given her. Serai seemed genuinely surprised to hear the answers to what had happened to Mark and her necklace. “I really didn’t think I was gone all that long. Hunh.” Moonpie asked where she’d gone from Auberdine. She said, “Oh I ran into a friend and we detoured to Moonglade. We even spent some time in the Emerald Dream…Oh. That explains it.” Moonpie didn't know what to say to that. She gave Serai the information of where to find Mark’s grave and family, should she want to visit. “I would say out of tact, to maybe wait a good while before you try to reclaim your heirloom. Maybe after a couple generations have passed so no one should be particularly sensitive about you… um, exhuming it.” Serai said she would make a note to come back for it later as suggested.

Moonpie finished her story and took a sip of her drink as she raised an eyebrow to her companion.
“Wow!” Ryo said. “Well, that was some solid detective work you did. Great work! Shame how out of touch with reality some folks can become.”
“No kidding. You wanna know the best part?” The demon hunter nodded for her to continue. “The lady asked me out afterwards. Since she was, after all, single now.” Moonpie laughed.
Ryo winced a little, “Oh Moonpie, you didn't!” Though he was all but certain he knew the answer already.
Moonpie shrugged one shoulder with a sheepish look on her face. “What can I say? She was pretty hot. I totally don't expect to hear from her again anytime soon though. Given her track record.”
