HIS SHOULDER STILL HURT SO MUCH,  having pulled and subsequently strained it from, you guessed it, practicing too much. dammit, he should’ve listened to sebastian. now here he was, stuck unable to move it excessively for a few weeks on orders from the doctor, and that made him feel even worse.

BLAINE HADN’T BEEN EXPECTING THAT.

Not that the idea of dating Sebastian had never crossed his mind (it had, maybe even more than once, and long ago, when Blaine had still been certain Kurt would always be his one and only), but mostly, he’d just never expected to hear that particular sentence from Sebastian. A DATE. Something a lot more significant than just fooling around in secrecy. Something that had a potential for a FUTURE attached. That’s what dating was, wasn’t it? At least to Blaine. The start of something real, something tangible.

But he didn’t know if he was THERE yet. A part of him still sometimes thought, maybe Kurt and I can work it out. Blaine didn’t know why he still thought that. Why he couldn’t just move on, and put Kurt and McKinley and that last two years BEHIND him? Especially now, when a possible future was right there for the taking.

And Sebastian was... well, Blaine didn’t know how he would’ve made it through the last couple of months with his SANITY intact without Sebastian’s unwavering support and friendship. Maybe Blaine was just a little scared that he might end up screwing this up, too. Or, maybe Sebastian wouldn’t let that happen. Maybe this was the LEAP of faith Blaine needed to move forward.

Blaine pauses mid-swing toward the punching bag, and turned to glance over his shoulder at Sebastian. He hadn’t heard him approach, lost as he was in beating the crap out of the inanimate object in front of him.
