HAND PULLED NOODLE BAR 🍜 // Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup (aud15) and Lamb Skewers (3 for aud10; 5 for aud17) from Hand Pulled Noodle Bar, Wanneroo. Perfect symmetry. Finally trying this place and really impressed with their new menu item - lamb skewers. It was so tender and delicious without the gamey lamb smell. Just the right balance of cumin without being too overpowering. The beef and broth were nice too with pickled radish and carrot - unfortunately the noodles were not the usual hand-pulled noodles but “knife-shave” 刀削面 noodles this time as the weather during the last week was too hot for the dough. Would be back to try their usual noodles. WEEKEND SPECIAL: BANANA LEAF RICE 🍌🌱🍚 // Visited Syiok Kopitiam, Wanneroo markets last weekend for their weekend special. They’re bringing it back again this weekend so you don’t miss out! So good to see this in Perth. Menu on @perthfoodmenu or click #PFR_SyiokKopitiam Had the banana leaf rice served with Pappadum and pickles (aud7.50) with curry fish (aud6). The curry sauces smelt fragrant and had a bit of spicy kick - mouth-wateringly good. The mackerel fish serving was generous. They’ve undercooked the potatoes but otherwise, it was perfect. Willing to drive 30 minutes for this. P.S I’ve noticed they’ve since increased the price to aud9.50 for the banana leaf rice this weekend. If you haven’t been to Wanneroo Markets, definitely give this quaint market a visit too - there are just so many hidden gems within this market! SAMBAL SQUID 🔥🤤 // 2 meat choices with coconut rice, 1/2 half-boiled egg and cucumber aud13.50 from Syiok Kopitiam, Wanneroo Markets, Wangara. Sambal is delicious and had good kick - one of my favourites in Perth to-date alongside Suku Freo’s. The coconut rice is very fragrant and the fried chicken was crispy. Satisfied meal and will definitely be back. Friends ordered their wrapped Nasi Lemak (aud4.50), fried vermicelli (aud11.90) and Fried Kway Teow (aud11.90) too. Wokhei wasn’t that pronounced in the fried noodles dishes.
