14. Do you believe in luck and miracles?

Vartouhi shrugged. “I don’t really give either topic much thought. But I guess, when you hope, you are subconsciously wishing for a miracle, or some luck, right? So perhaps I do.”

17. Do you think there is life on other planets?

Vartouhi couldn’t help a mischievous smile. “Perhaps.”

21. What are your bad habits?

"Peeling the skin off my lips," she admitted with a grimace. "I can get distracted easily, or forget things easily. Despite being a dancer, I am sometimes frightfully clumsy. I tap out rhythms or melodies with my fingernails or foot against a hard surface. My sisters would always snap at me for that one."

23. Do you have trust issues?

"I… well." Vartouhi hummed thoughtfully. "I think I do. And it’s silly, because it changes. I trust too easily one day, and am very hesitant to put my trust in others the next. Perhaps it goes back-and-forth because I have a bad experience on one side, and then the other, so I am constantly trying to find the middle ground… It is very tiring."

24. Favorite part of your daily routine?

Vartouhi rubbed the back of her neck. “Watching the sunrise. It’s the promise of things changing.”

41. Do you believe everyone deserves a second chance?

She wrinkled her nose. “I shouldn’t, because I am always the person who will give that second chance, and become inconvenienced or hurt because of it… but yes, I suppose.”

43. Do you smile at strangers?

"No. Not unless they smile at me first." She didn’t add that it was because she didn’t want to arouse suspicion in anyone, or make her appear stranger than she already might to anyone.

49. Have you done anything recently that you hope nobody finds out about?

She nodded, thinking back on all the breaking and entering, and essentially stealing she’s done. With a sigh, Vartouhi mentally asked the families of those homes to forgive her.

60. Ever won a competition? For what?

"Dance." She rolled her eyes. "I regret it though. I knew I should not have entered."

89. Name a person you hate?

“Maurus,” she spat.

100. How are you feeling?

"Currently, a bit tired and anxious. Although a gray stranger asked me this question earlier, so I will not go into detail twice."

109. Is something irritating you right now?

"Constantly being turned away from applying for employment..."

113. What was your childhood nickname?

"Hm? It's not limited to just being a childhood nickname, but one of my nicknames is--" She stopped herself, having almost said 'Touhi,' and scrambled to come up with a fake nickname for her alias. "A-ah... 'Ri.'"

127. What makes you happy?

"Ah, many things. But lately, music and being shown kindness."

   This ‘getting to know each other’ business was fairly foreign to Walter. He had all but forgotten how to make new friends since his current ones had been with him for so long, but he wasn’t above trying.    So long as they were working towards the same goal (friendship) it ought to work out well, right?    He really hoped so.    The other day he had read somewhere that activities brought people together so he had, lo and behold, turned to google for ‘bonding activities for friends’. The most plausible thing he found was the aquarium. Or the first suggestion had been the zoo, but for someone allergic to furry animals (the horror) he decided to go with the most sneeze-free option.    Since it would be easier to meet up outside given the time his shift ended they had decided on that rather than to take the bus there together, so as soon as he was out he reached for his phone and typed up a quick message.

   As he sent it he made quick work of rounding the corner and getting on the earliest bus. Once there he made himself comfortable in his seat and pulled his headphones up from his neck and onto his head to make the following twenty minutes pass by more to his liking.    Walter had never been to an aquarium before so he didn’t know what to expect, but he had to admit that he was quite excited by the possibility of seeing a shark up close.    That would be so cool.    Lost in the music like he was, it felt like mere minutes when the bus slowed down and finally stopped. He offered the chauffeur a haste nod before getting of and walking the rest of the distance until he found himself outside the building.    He was a bit early, so he backed up a few steps to lean against the wall while awaiting Minseok.    Since being aware of time wasn’t in the tall man’s forte he didn’t know how long it took until the other showed up, but he had obviously not suffered in any shape or form. Instead he pulled his headphones down to hang against the back of his neck and paused the music, all while raising one hand to offer what could be considered a sheepish wave.    With that he pushed himself off of the wall and walked towards the older male to meet him halfway, a smile lingering on his lips.    ”Hey, did the ride go well?”

From his job, Minseok was used to associating with all types of people. He had acquaintances among the art as well as the business world, an even a few that weren’t really of this world at all. So he didn’t find it out of the ordinary when he and Walter became friendly quickly. 

Their first meeting had been at a charity event; Walter as a performer and Minseok as one of the invitees. Awkward in an ill-fitting suit, Minseok was talking with a potential client, nibbling on what looked suspiciously like cat food spread across melba toast. But then partway through the event a stage had opened up with a few selections from a performing group and he was finally able to hide the inedible appetizer under a napkin. Then, mission accomplished, he was able to dedicate his attention to the performance itself.

Even to someone who nothing about dance the performance was stunning. There are some times that emotions translate across performers to the audience perfectly; and this was one of those times. And maybe that’s why Minseok remembered him.

Their next meeting was at a restaurant; Walter as the waiter and Minseok as the unsuspecting victim of a glass of ice water. Minseok had stood there, astonished and water dripping from his hair, and when the other customers were holding their breath for a youtube worthy reaction, Minseok had just laughed and said, “Wow, it’s you again.”

He had never been to the COEX mall on a weekday before, so he wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. But it was less crowded than he had been expecting. Despite a few groups of high schoolers and mothers taking their children out for the day, the wide courtyard was nearly deserted. So it wasn’t that difficult for him to spot his friend leaning against the side of the building.

He smiled when he saw the other, sidestepping around a few teenagers and waving to get his attention. “Walter!” He brushed a hand through his hair, his grin widening and pace quickening as he watched his friend walk towards him.

They began simply-- almost amateur quality choreography to break his feet in properly for the trials of true ballet compared to his more contemporary and jazz roots, moving easily onto intermediate as a warm up, and now focusing on the more advanced technicalities of the genre.

It isn't hard to adjust since contemporary's base is ballet, but it's no secret that ballet in it's true, pure form is the most trying form of dance he's ever taken to, and as he finishes the final series of pirouettes of the routine and lands in his final position, he releases a long exhale of breath, immediately falling from pointe. He frowns slightly, rolling his shoulders as his gaze slides from the mirror in front of him to the taller, elder male.
