❝your performance was a decent crowd-pleaser. adequate, not spectacular--i think the crowd was quite excited by what you did, though i must say it didn’t necessarily grab my attention. i found your double barrier-shattering somewhat repetitive, and i also think you could have done more to fill the time that you had during the song--especially in the way of more move combinations. i could see a lot of good ideas in your appeal, and i think you could have dared to dream bigger.❞

❝i see where you’re coming from. you put a different spin than what i was envisioning when i think about greatness, and yet you depicted exactly the same. you showed the greatness of persevering through hard times with the aid of those closest to you, while at the same time acknowledging that it is okay to take care of yourself and make yourself safe. i particularly appreciate how you emphasized that finding a safe space is not the same as giving up. that is something that so many great people did not acknowledge, and they have all paid for it dearly--myself included.❞

❝i loved the touch at the end with those tentacles--makes you think of something menacing, but the creature was actually kind, as an inversion of what the drifblim species is known for. i also loved the theatrics of the dollhouse--i know that song well, and what you presented definitely not what most people think of when they think of the word ‘dollhouse,’ so you’ve certainly done well to invert the theme of the song.❞

❝you and your pokémon shone brightly in their dance, setting up and guiding the two of you through gengar’s tricks and traps. i can definitely see that you incorporated some of my feedback from last year, being more involved in the performance yourself like the sensational sister you are--and i applaud you for that. i still think you could have done just a little bit more--i had the impression that acerola just did a bit more of the stunt work, took a little more of the spotlight.❞

❝your gorebyss and whiscash showed a lot of their raw power, and i appreciated that both of them were able to activate their abillities. gorebyss still able to move quickly despite being in trick room was particularly impressive--although i feel as though you could have played around with the difference in speed more. however, i also felt as though your pokémon were focused more on their strength than their technical proficiency. in the next round, should you advance, i would like to see some nuance from them as well.❞

❝you and your pokémon did quite well to set the scene and show off your skills. however, you made one mistake, for which i cannot give you a perfect score--i saw you had a poisonium z attached to your drifblim, but you neglected to use it. there are so many things you could have done with it--for example, adding to the rain dance, or combining it with the will-o-wisp to create flaming rain. something to keep in mind for next time, especially should you advance.❞

❝i think i understand what you were trying to get at--you were trying to show the greatness of the bond between you two, as well as the technical greatness of your pokémon. however, i think you could have done more to show the bond between the two of you, as most of the time you were simply dancing. it would have been more impactful if you had showed that bond being tested through some great trial.❞

❝whereas your move use was mostly expected, i think you managed to harness the contrast between light and dark in a unique and individual way--and i do enjoy the more unique touches, such as shattering the night shade with a focus blast and using the dragon that results from dragon pulse to wield a sword. you also managed to harness different moves to create diverse permanent visuals, which i applaud.❞

❝your choice of song, the emotions displayed by you and your pokémon, the imagery—all of it was trying to depict the sense of greatness that you found in both them and yourself. you did have somewhat of a vibe that the focus was more on your pokémon than yourself, especially toward the middle. but toward the end you brought it back from that somewhat because you had yourself as part of the phoenix. well done.❞

❝i didn’t really feel as though you were saying much that was unexpected—the phoenix, while beautiful, is a usual symbol of perseverance, with the image of the phoenix rising from the ashes. moreover, i don’t feel as though any of your move usage was out of the ordinary. but i do appreciate the fact that you used salandit and ribombee as your phoenixes, as most trainers would use bird pokémon instead.❞

❝you put on a beautifully vibrant show that exposed the hidden depths of your character in quite an elegant way. i highly appreciate the color and the dynamism of the way your pokémon used their moves, and i also loved that every image had a meaning. the one thing i could criticize is that sometimes the aesthetic of the appeal clashed with the tone of the song--the song was very quiet, whereas your visuals were huge and climactic.❞

❝you showed what it truly means to suffer from trauma, and displayed the greatness of your bond with your pokémon in the context of that--for which i commend you. i would have, however, liked to see more of what it would mean to recover from that trauma--more action with your pokémon after you broke out from the cage. at the same time, i’m glad that you chose to focus the performance on yourself and how your pokémon helped you rather than focusing it on your relationship with anyone else.❞

❝i adored your unconventional uses of trick and embargo--many people wouldn’t think to turn water into wood, or to use embargo on a human’s held item. i also positively adored your use of trick room’s gelatinous boundaries. some of the symbolism was rather expected, but overall, you gave us a highly original appeal that expressed the depths of your psyche.❞

❝you had some really nice precision work when your scrafty broke the draco meteor with his high jump kick and brick break, as well as a wonderful stunt when you caught your watchog with giga impact. moreover, i want to congratulate you on the flawlessness of your new noivern’s performance--performing while newly evolved is no easy feat. the rest of your appeal was a bit simple, but the moments of daring make up for it.❞

❝i could see that your performance displayed much of your noivern’s greatness, and you had a role in it, catching and commanding your pokémon. but honestly, i couldn’t see much depth or introspection about what made you personally great; i know that your technique makes you great, but i would have liked to see something else about you--for example, more of your bond between you and your pokémon.❞

❝like your fellow competitor acerola, i thoroughly appreciate the creativity that you invested in making me and the audience take a meme song seriously. i also loved how you had audino skip across the surface of the water like a stone--i have literally never seen that done before. i would have liked to see more such innovations, and i would have also perhaps liked to see more combinations of physical and special moves--those are more rare and less intuitive than physical/physical or special/special.❞

❝your performance was truly moving--a spectacle that touched the heart and held my attention. the display of samurott’s journey onscreen was a wonderful added touch, although sometimes i felt that it overshadowed the pokémons’ action during the first half of the performance. you went for bold choices, although i think you could have put a bit more power into some of the move combinations, especially at the end--i like to be left feeling overwhelmed by the climactic combinations, and the performance didn’t deliver exactly that. still, though, it was a sight to see. you should be proud.❞

❝you put on a great display of dynamism from all of your pokémon--the whole thing was expertly timed and choreographed. your pokémon showed much of their power, and even a little bit of finesse, which i was very pleased by. i think you could have been somewhat more complex, but you’ve done a good job as is.❞

❝the show was a stunning, touching tribute to your samurott and simipour, and in some aspects of it, it was a display of how you helped both of those pokémon through their trauma as well. i do think you could have been much more involved, however, especially since this performance was supposed to be about the trainer rather than the pokémon. your singing, though, was wonderful--on point.❞

❝i loved the unique twist that you gave by directly showing the events that transpired--it must have been very hard for you to put that together and to show such personal information to the public, and so i commend you for not only your originality but also your bravery. i also loved how you turned the misty terrain ring-shaped with the aqua ring--that’s something i’ve not seen done before. once again, though, i think you could have put a bit more into your move combinations.❞
