maybe another idea could be that they meet for the first time in twd? so they basically had their own life before and meet then. they first donât obviously trust each other at the start but survival is their main motive so they decide to stick together? it would be kinda cute that heâd care to keep her safe even not knowing her personally xx
Wherever she goes, heâs there.
Heâd been following her every move since sheâd made a brisk walk through the deserted town that heâd been staying in for the passing few nights. Dead bodies littering the streets, blood smeared across the pavement, blood splatters on the windows of derelict houses, tire tracks on the roads from quick getaways, and the corner shop having been broken into for supplies. From then on, heâd not been far behind her. Following every move she made, making sure she was in a safe environment, looking around for anything or anyone dangerous, killing from afar before she had the chance to save herself.
At first, she thought he was just finding a way out of the empty town. Hoping that heâd side off down a different path, a different route, so that she was left to fend for herself - because, having someone else tagging along brought more than just a look-out for herself. Except, when the afternoon rolled around and he was still scuffing along behind her, kicking up stones and leaves, she gets the feeling that sheâs no longer travelling alone. That she was no longer on the survival route on her own.
âWhy are you following me? Why are you committing yourself to me? What is it that you want from this? Is this your way of stalking some prey? Do you want to get in my pants or something? Do you want me to suck you off? Because, the world is ending, buddy. Weâre all suffering from a little bit of sexual deprivation,â she grumbles, âthereâs no time for blowjobs and thereâs no time to find a fuck-buddy, okay? I donât know about you but, I want to survive. I donât want to die.â
âAnd you think I do? You think I want to die? Because I donât. Iâm terrified. Iâm physically petrified of what the world has become, okay? Youâre the first human Iâve seen in 3 weeks. The first person to walk through that town and show that there is life out there. The first person who doesnât want my flesh for food,â he bites back, eyebrows furrowed on his brow-line, âyouâre the first person that made me a feel a bit safer because I wasnât on my own.â
âYou donât know who I am! I could be some killer. Before this happened, I could have been in with murders and killing. I could be the kind of person who uses you as bait. Who leaves you behind to save my own skin. You canât trust me because Iâm a stranger to you,â she hisses, taking longer strides to create a space between the two of them, âyouâve been following me all day but youâve barely spoken to me. Youâve barely wanted to get to know me. You donât show any signs in wanting to work through this shit together. If youâre desperate to tag along with someone, at least make them feel safe around you.â
âI just didnât think you wanted to talk. Silence is the way to live nowadays, isnât it? I didnât want to bring danger to you, or myself,â he whispers softly, looking down at the tattered white converse boots that were tied loosely to his feet. No long crisp white and covered in mud and twigs and heâs sure thereâs a little blood clinging to the material. âSomething drew me to you. Seeing you all alone. Iâm not the type of man who leaves a woman alone. Especially when theyâre in danger. We may not have morals anymore, but, god. That doesnât make me any less of a gentleman.â
âNewsflash, Iâm not in any danger. Iâm not the only one fighting in this world. I was doing fine before you.â
âIâm scared, okay?â He hears her snort with laughter and his cheeks heat up with embarrassment. âThat might be funny to you but itâs not. A man showing emotion, showing people that heâs scared, that heâs terrified. Go ahead and laugh. But, I lost people, okay? I lost my family before my very eyes. I watched my sister leave for supplies and never come back. My mother lost the plot and ended up killing herself. I had to kill my father in order to save myself. I lost my friends to these creatures. Iâm alone in this world, and that terrifies me, and I thought youâd be okay with me being around. I thought youâd want someone to help you survive.â
Thereâs a pang of guilt that swallows her. Her footsteps coming to a stop along the dusted track. No longer creating any sounds, no longer stretching the distance to find somewhere safe to stay for the night, no longer feeling like she could do this on her own. Because it wasnât just her who was suffering the longing ache to find someone so she didnât go crazy with the loneliness that came with losing the loved ones that she tried hard to fight for.
âIâm sorry,â she whispers, twisting around and looking in his direction, âIâm trying my hardest to stay alive, to prove a point that Iâm not some prissy girl who canât cope in life or death situations, and I didnât realise I was being selfish in the process.â
She searches his face for an answer and frowns when his features stay set in stone. Gulping nervously as he raised the gun that sat in the holster upon his hip. Panic spreading through her veins, filling her quick, causing her legs to shake and her hands to clench into fists with sweaty palms. Her eyes clenching shut as she waited for the blow.
âYou donât need to-â
Thereâs a bang that sounds, muffled by a silencer, except she feels nothing. Her eyes cracking open at the sound of something⌠someone⌠falling behind her. Straining to look over her shoulder as she saw a zombie, fresh and just days old, crumble to the floor. Hitting the ground with a thud
âWill you let me stay by your side?â
She nods. How could she say no? His feet beginning to move down the track they were proceeding upon, at a speed that was comfortable for to be able to catch up to, walking ahead of her as she followed in his footsteps.
âMâHarry, by the way.â xx
