Rules & FAQ of the 2026 Valentine's MultiFemslash Gift Exchange

This is an event for fandom fictional characters only! No rpf please!

If you want your gifter to be able to contact you, write your Tumblr username into the 'description' box on the Ao3 sign-up and turn on anonymous asks on tumblr

In your sign up, you have to make at least as many offers as requests. In sign-ups with more requests than offers, the requests without offers will be deleted before the matches are made.

If you want your gifter to be able to contact you for example about prompt specifics during the creating process, note your tumblr url in your sign-up request, and turn on anonymous asks. When you get an ask, either pin the reply or tag it multifandom femslash gift exchange or #mfge26 so they can find it

If you want to ask your giftee something during the creating process, ask them on tumblr on anonymous so as not to reveal who you are before the gifts are done

Once you are done, post your creation to the Ao3 collection (femslasheventsgiftexchange) and gift it to your giftee on Ao3! If you are posting something hosted elsewhere, like art on tumblr or videos on youtube, embed it into a new Ao3 work so you can gift it.

Also make sure to allow your gifter to gift you works, you can find the setting under 'profile' - 'preferences' 'Collections, Challenges and Gifts' - 'Allow anyone to gift me works'.

You can cross-post to tumblr as well, if you tag @femslashevents it will be reblogged!

Can I edit my sign-up later?

You can edit it until matches are made on November 30.

Does it matter if my ship is canon or not?

No, you can sign up with any canon or noncanon fictional femslash couple!

What happens if I can't finish my gift in time?

Firstly, please only sign up if you are reasonably certain that you can manage it!

If something happens and you need an extension, let mods know before the posting deadline.

If you won't be able to complete your gift at all, please let mods know as soon as possible, and try to find a pinch-hitter (someone in the fandom who can take over for you). You can find some pinch-hitters in the notes of this post.

If you quit the exchange without notice, you may be banned from future events.

It's a femslash event, but can I request nonbinary characters or genderbent or transfem versions of canonically male characters?

You can, but it might be harder to find a match for them, so best sign up with some canon women too!

What about DNWs (Do Not Wants)?

When signing up, there's a description field under your 'request' on Ao3 where you need to add the topics you absolutely do not want to have as a part of your gift, and label them clearly as "Do Not Wants" (DNW). Your gifter will see this along with the rest of your request.

When creating, if you are unsure whether something is part of the Do Not Wants of your giftee, please contact [email protected] and ask, they will forward the question to your giftee and make sure that there can be no misunderstandings.

If part of your giftee's request says '▶DNW', make sure to click there to read what your giftee has written about their Do Not Wants!

Can I post [media]?

Yes! Fic, art, gifs, podfic, video, anything you can think of as long as you can post/embed to Ao3.

Can I post [topic]?

There will be no censorship in this event, as long as you comply with your giftee's wishes and do-not-wants (and if it's a dark topic not mentioned either way in their request, please ask first), and you tag correctly and add warnings accordingly or use 'chose not to use archive warnings', anything goes!

For posting on tumblr, please keep E-rated content and anything requiring an archive warning below a readmore cut with the warnings above the cut if you want it to be reblogged here.

I don't have an ao3 account, can I still participate?

You need an account to get matched, but you can make one by requesting an invite to Ao3! Make sure to do so soon as it might take some days to get the account depending on how busy the platform is.

If it doesn't work and you didn't get an invite by the 28th of November please send an ask and we can figure something out - if anyone has leftover invites please reply to this post so we can make sure everyone can be a part of the gift exchange!

Is treating allowed?

Yes, you can create treats (bonus gifts for any participants based on their requests), gift them and add them to the collection and/or post them on tumblr! If you have signed up to create regular gift(s), please make sure to complete those first though before you work on something for someone else - treats are just meant to be a bonus.
