Here are some charitable things that you can do at and around Mabon that don’t cost a penny!
If you have a full stamp card for your favourite coffee shop, save it and give it to someone else! This can be a stranger or someone you know.
When you’re buying groceries, keep an eye out for deals like buy one, get one free. You can gather up the free items from your purchase to donate to local food banks. Remember to check the rules and regulations at your local food bank for what is an acceptable donation and what is not.
Donate old clothes! This year has been particularly hard on so many people and folks are relying on secondhand items in charity shops/thrift stores. You don’t need to go crazy; if there are a few cosy sweaters and a pair of jeans that you’ve worn soft that are hidden somewhere in the back of a drawer, you can donate them!
Voluntary work is a little more time-consuming but is a great way to be charitable at any time of year. There are always local charities looking for help so seek out the ones near your home and see if there’s anything you can do to help out.
Bring a gift to a neighbour (while respecting social distancing regulations)! It can be baked goods (you could make bread or cake from any of the many Mabon recipes floating around on witchblr!) or something else you’ve made for them. You can also help repair things if you’re good with DIY, again remembering to maintain the appropriate social distancing measures!
Check in on your friends and family. This is less of a charitable act and more of a loving nudge to ensure that those closest to you are okay. This year has been wild and it’s affecting people in strange ways. The darker months are tricky on mental health and those who might not appear to be struggling could be having a tough time. Try to make yourself present and willing to help if you can but remember not to burn yourself out!
There’s a whole lot happening out there in the world right now and I’ve tried to keep these ideas as friendly and upbeat as possible. There are of course plenty of things to be done on a wider scale (signing BLM petitions, participating in peaceful protests, writing to local government representatives about issues that matter to you and your community, VOTING) but this list is just a few of the ideas I had off the top of my head about Mabon charitable work that doesn’t cost a fortune. If you can think of any other ideas, feel free to reblog and add them!
Stay safe out there folks and have a blessed autumn!

Tonight was vegan lasagna. I’m not vegan (as proved by the garlic bread - contains milk) but I try to eat plant based when I can as I feel healthier eating only a small amount of fish/meat each week.
2 hours of a fitness class called Swoove today. The first hour was strength and was a Pilates based workout. I’ve never done that class before but my at-home Pilates work really helped me as I was able to do the whole class. The second class/hour was the usual dance fitness. It’s so much fun, I wish I could do it every day! Next class is Tuesday but I will be doing Pilates tomorrow (Monday) all the same.
I have work tomorrow. It’s just a voluntary job but I enjoy it just the same. Going to have breakfast in Starbucks (5 grain oatmeal and a coffee) tomorrow morning (early-7am) before i go in.
I'm starting volunteer work today.
It's my first day of "work" since i've been home sick (a few years now).
I'm gonna work every wednesday at a place they call the Rainbow house.

On 17.11.2018 I had a chance to do another voluntary work at Teatr Lalki i Aktora Kubuś in Kielce. I helped with the organisation of the whole event. Firstly, me and my dear friend Julia, assisted guests during the exhibition and then we worked in the cloak room in the theatre. I must admit that we were stressing out. It was the first time, when we had to menage everything on our own. We were terrified, because the number of guests was really huge and we weren’t expecting that. But luckily everything went well and guests seemed to really enjoy the event.
We also had the opportunity to see the play “Hamlet” and then we were invited to the banquet after the play. Thanks to it we could meet actors and even talk to them.
I must say that I like working in this theatre. I wish there were more events like this one. I hope that in the nearest future I will have opportunity to work there again. I just can’t wait!
