I Loved You (Request)- Mitsunari Baba (A)
Prompt: how about a angst piece for Baba with the last word “I Love You?” - requested by @gold2245
I went a different route, instead of a scenario where ___ gets physically hurt. I feel Baba is much more mature than the other bidders, so I took a more mature way. Hopefully this is ok, let me know if you want a different route and I’ll rewrite! I also sort of forgot the name of the chick baba use to love.. please forgive me LOL
Baba and ____ silently sit across from each other, unsure of what to say next. ____ breaks the tense silence.
“How did we let it get this far?”
____ and Baba had been secretly dating for an entire year. They managed to hide a majority of their relationship from everyone, including the bidders. In fact, Baba’s flirty nature made it much easier for them, as no one could really tell whether he was serious or not when he teased ____.
But as the year progressed, Baba and ____ didn’t always agree. Their age difference and maturity caused a rift in their growth, both wanting separate things. Maybe it was because in reality, Baba was nothing like the false personality he played in front of everyone, his serious tone at home caused ____ to realize that maybe she couldn’t always agree with him.
Or maybe it was ____ generous nature that Baba couldn’t seem to understand, why couldn’t she just see people will take advantage of her kindness? Was he just too old for her? Is 35 too “out of style” for a 25 year old? Was it because they weren’t compatible?
Or was it something else?
“Hey _____. I need your help on something.” Soryu asks ___ as she finishes dusting the penthouse.
Soryu pats the seat next to him, gesturing gently for her to sit down with him. He smiles at her warmly, as she takes the seat and peers at the paperwork he has in front of him.
Hm, he’s been strangely nice these days.
___ shakes her thoughts, no he’s always been kind. Just a little intimidating.
“Do you think you can do me the favor of looking over this and give me your opinion of what you think is the proper procedure to clean this type of mess up?”
“Yeah, of course. Let me review it really fast.”
_____ glances at the paperwork, it was another motel that Eisuke was opening up, but it was different in the aspect that it was a smaller version of Tres Spades and meant as a pit stop for travellers and truckers.
“No, actually, this set up is great. It’s quick and easy for the workers, and in fact, I think the only thing you need to change is probably the amount of times you check up on the room. It should be double this amount, because you want to ensure cleanliness, since travelers are coming, it’s easy to bring bed bugs and other foreign insects that can invade a motel quick.”
“Wow, I didn’t think of that.. Thanks!”
“Hehe, well, Eisuke forced the head maids to take courses over this. But, it was well worth the knowledge.”
Soryu places his hand on her back the moment Baba walks in.
“Heeeey. How’s it going Sor and princess.”
“Hi Baba! Just hanging out with Soryu.”
“You can call me Sor, if you like..”
Baba cocks his head to the side, surprised Soryu even mentioned that to ____. Soryu hated that nickname, in fact, Baba uses Sor just to piss him off. His mind grew suspicious, but he knew that ___ wouldn’t easily just fall in the arms of another man. Besides, it’s not like Soryu knew they were dating.
“Anyways, I have to go, Sor! I’ll see you guys later.” ____ heads out of the penthouse, with Baba trailing after her.
“So, what was that all about with Soryu today?”
“Nothing, he was just discussing some stuff about the new motel Eisuke wanted to open.”
“Seems like stuff he should already know, since he’s helped Eisuke open so many.”
“Baba, it’s just Soryu, nothing to be jealous about. Actually, since when did you ever get jealous? It seems so unlike you.”
“No, _____. I just hate the fact everyone just walks over you and you allow it!”
“Wait what? What in the world are you even talking about.. I was just giving him my opinion. Something you hardly ever let me due. I don’t remember the last time you ever took my opinion seriously.”
“That’s because you don’t understand how to properly analyze your point of view, your opinion is always based on how you feel at the moment, ____. You are only 25, you wouldn’t understand.”
“What are you, my father, Baba? I could have sworn we were DATING. Maturity doesn’t come with age you know. You have no right to tell me what’s correct or not, when you have screwed up more than I had at my age.”
Baba immediately knew what she was referring to. The argument had extended too far, the both were already throwing stones at each other like sinners, and it was much too late to apologize.
“Sigh, you know what Baba. We always have the same conversation. We use to have a mature, care-free, relationship. It’s gotten to the point where I am unsure if you’re parenting me or loving me.”
____ gets up from the couch and walks into the bathroom to get ready for bed. It had been excruciatingly painful for her to deal with Baba. The more time they continued to spend with each other, the longer and more agonizing it got. He lectured her too often, not allowing her to express herself where needed. She felt restricted and unable to breathe, because her opinion was never taken into consideration. There was days she would get up and be unsure of her feelings for Baba. It wasn’t that she didn’t love him, no. It was more that it was time for the both of them to grow and move on. However, her heart did not let that happen. Her heart kept holding and wishing for improvement, but her brain knew, the relationship was becoming toxic and it was time to get out. She walked in denial everyday, in constant dispute between her mind and heart, both wanting different things and different results.
No! ____ scolds herself, a true mature person would resolve it by talking. Thinking negative things will only worsen it. She was not going to let a few disputes cause her to think that it was time to move on.. She needed to at least get counseling or a real talk with Baba. She needed to talk to him.
She gets up quickly to apologize to Baba, she had been acting to rash. Maybe he was right, she needed to learn to grow up.
Baba sat on the couch and sighed, thumbing through his phone, until he stopped on a name. Jessica. The woman he fell in love with so long ago and left because he was afraid of not being able to provide her a future. He had long forgotten her ever since he fell in love with ____. There was no one ever in his mind since, but lately, things had just been so rocky. It was difficult to get ____ understand his viewpoint. Things are not always peachy and beautiful, but there will be arduous times. She always walked away from problems, instead of solving them head on, she was stubborn like that. Maybe he was too hopeful that she would turn out like Jessica? Was it because he compared the two? Was he only in love with the idea of Jessica that he hoped to project out of ___? No, that couldn’t be. ____ was one of a kind. Even if it meant she had a few kinks she had to deal with.
Baba’s phone rings as he sits contemplating.
Uh, wow, speak of the devil..
It was Jessica phoning Baba. He cautiously stands up and walks outside to pick up the call.
“Micchi! I finally got in contact with you, I have been trying to reach you for so long... I felt like we didn’t really end our relationship on such great terms..”
“Yeah, I agree. Sorry that I have been avoiding talking to you.”
“Let’s meet up tomorrow for lunch. Yeah? I miss you, a lot, Micchi..”
Her tone was clear what she meant when she said she missed him. Baba struggled to answer. He knew it wasn’t the right thing to do, because the intention behind the lunch was far from a friendly catch up. But he needed closure. Was his love for ____ just based off of his love for Jessica? Or is it because he was hurting from his relationship with ___ that he was seeking attention elsewhere.
“Sure, let’s go to our usual, if you remember. Let’s keep this between us, because I missed you too.”
“Of course I remember, how could I ever forget..”
___ stood at the door, listening intently to Baba’s conversation. She couldn’t believe that he was meeting up with his ex. The ex he was so enamored with. The ex that everyone knew how much Baba was hurting after her. ____ felt betrayed, how he could even tell her that he missed her, knowing that ____ was right in the house waiting for him. Tears sting her eyes, she knew she was no match for Baba’s first love. Was she too immature for him?
Baba and Jessica run into a hug as they caught up in their conversation. _____ sat a few tables behind in disguise, feeling shameful her conscience took her this far as to spy. But she wanted answers, answers she knew Baba wouldn’t give her.
“I missed you so much! Let’s just cut to the chase, Micchi. Let’s get back together. Whatever the problem was, let’s just get through it together.. I’ll be there to support you!”
____ eyes begin to tear, she felt disgraced that she could never answer Baba in that sense of support. Maybe it was for the better if he left her.
Why was he hesitating. The answer should be automatically, no! He had ____ waiting for him at home..
“Micchi,” Jessica grabs his hand lustfully into hers, “How about I just remind you why you loved me..”
Jessica leads him through the restaurant and down the street to a hotel, trailing behind them was ____. What is he doing!? Is he serious! Do I mean NOTHING TO HIM!?
The hotel doors closes and ____ creeps up to the door with her ears planted on it. She heard noises she’s never heard Baba make before, moans and grunts, that only confirmed what she was thinking.
____ ran home, tears streaming down her eyes. The pain throbbed in her chest, she knew that she loved Baba. Her love for him was immense, but maybe it was her lack of sensibility and understanding. As much as it hurt her, she knew that he deserved better than her, a mere immature maid.
Baba runs his hands through his hair and knocks himself on the forehead with his knuckles.
He just betrayed the only person he’s ever truly trusted and loved. He watched as Jessica got dressed and felt a sense of disgust.
Is this what he needed to do in order to see what he actually had? Jessica was nothing more than a playtoy. A woman he long forgotten. He was guided by his lust and penis here, it wasn’t because he loved Jessica. But what he just did, was unforgivable.
Baba sat on the bed as if he was given prophecy of his problem. ____ only needed my support and my understanding. I treated her like she was a kid. She’s so much mature than I ever gave her credit for. And here I am, I slept with my ex out of spite of ___. A woman who only cared for me, stayed with me after the horrible things I’ve said to her. Soryu even made a move on her and she didn't even give him a second glance.. I jumped on the next moving thing that made a move on me.
How will I ever look at her in the face now?
Baba snuck in and turn on the lights, only to see ____ sitting at the table waiting for him.
Baba and ____ silently sit across from each other, unsure of what to say next. ____ breaks the tense silence.
“How did we let it get this far?”
“I-I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Baba, I followed you. Why don’t you just go ahead and confess.”
“Please, ____, listen to me. Yes, I slept with her, but I came to a huge epitome. I realized she is NOT you! You are so much more than she is ____. I need you, ____. I’m so sorry for not ever taking the time to just realize your point of view, your needs, you-”
“Baba, I love you. More than I think I can ever love someone. But I have come to understand that maybe we shouldn’t be together.”
“No, princess, it was a mistake.”
“It’s not just about the fact you cheated Baba. We are on two different spectrums of thinking. You need someone..” ____ eyes well up, “more mature than me. I can’t give you what you need, Mitsunari. I can’t be Jessica. I think it’s time we split up.”
Baba cringes at the fact ___ uses his first name, she had never in his life addressed him that way.
“____! Jessica means nothing to me!”
“Your actions speak louder than words, MICCHI! You can’t just sleep with woman to realize you love someone! You fix things like a normal adult by communicating! Clearly I am not meant for you, clearly I am much TOO immature for you, CLEARLY I AM NOT YOUR JESSICA!” ____ raises her voice as it her hands tremble with anger, “My keys are on the counter, I’ll ask Ota to come for my things.”
____ had already shut the door and was gone.
