Anyway. As for an answer, I suppose it would be a cop-out to say "crickets"? Specifically the noise they make when they die.

- after learning about consecution, he immediately tried to get any kid from Nogvurot and train them before they started to remember

- this is a personal hc, but make them learn the wrong dialect of undercommon then blame them when they kept getting captured by the kryn

- also told them incorrect information about drow causing them to get captured easier as well, ex. Teaching them about how they follow Lolth and all that BS

- used modify memory for the smallest things to just gaslight them, like telling them they hated eating their favorite food

- even though he figured out the pattern for the glyphs, he still makes every new trainee go through having the residuum put under their skin

- never allowed them to go to temples, unless they (the temple) were somehow under his thumb, so they could only stick to Rexxentrum temples

- (on a mechanical level) only keeping them at the 12 level so they wouldn't go above his abilities, but allowing them to take feats instead

- their spellbook wasn't their own and would be checked every so often in case they somehow got a new spell and if he did find something he didnt give them, he would burn the spellbook and make them start fresh without any help

- at some points (because he was probably sundowning) he would message them when he knows they are sleeping to cause exhaustion, then punish them for the exhaustion

- Basically feeding them soylent, only giving them good food when something big is about to happen ( like the US military giving lobster)

- spread rumors and discourse between the volstrucker so they couldnt trust each other (we kinda already saw that with the show, but I think on a different level he would attempt to pit Astrid and Eadwulf against each other but it didnt work)

- only allowing them to learn specific hobbies outside of training like sewing and cooking, so they would always be reliant on him

- this is a known, but he would constantly be reading their minds to make sure they weren't lying or planning something behind his back
