Because if you line the parts up, it looks like it could work. I'm not even sure if a factory wooden stock from a Ruger 10/22 wouldn't fit. I'd have to measure mine to confirm, but I cannot shake the feeling that the internals of VMP-2 are ripped off from TK/KJW 10/22 replica, with some changes to accomodate for the KSC TMP mags.
Anything past the rear screw insert is fair game. You can angle it downwards to get a traditional rifle stock profile, and the gap between back of the trigger guard and grip is a fairly typical feature.
