"Oscars 2015 - Vanity Fair Oscar Party"
📸 by Mark Seliger
Surprised to see I’m actually on board with Oscar winners this year. Save for:
One best supporting actress should have gone to Kerry Condon (preferably) or Stephanie Hsu. Like mad respect to both Bassett and Curties, but those performances were barely their best. Also, superhero films don’t usually go for the “big” categories, let alone win, so it should still count as a win for Bassett.
Two I would preferred All Quite on the Western Front for best picture, but nit really strong feeling about the Oscar going to Everything.
‘…a lucky, lucky man.’ And brilliant.
On this Oscars day in 2023, we recall the ceremony in 2015 where Eddie Redmayne was honored as Best Actor in a Leading Role for portraying Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything. An indelible memory of his humility and grace.
Remembering the night of his life
Eddie Redmayne recalls the light moments + intense feelings behind his unforgettable Oscars acceptance speech in 2015 in a new video from @theacademy. Watch by clicking below.
And, because this never gets old for Eddie’s fans, here’s the announcement + speech in its entirety.

Ready, steady, Eddie
With Oscar nominations set to be announced Tuesday morning (+ Eddie Redmayne in the conversation for Supporting Actor for The Good Nurse) we do a hybrid Man Crush Monday + throwback. It’s to 2015 when Eddie won the Best Actor award for The Theory of Everything + was escorted, with his Oscar, to be photographed by Mark Seliger for Vanity Fair. Who’s more crush-worthy than a man at the top of his game in an eye-popping blue tux + toting gold?
I look at Eddie here in rehearsals for Cabaret:
And then I look at him here when he won his Oscar:
...and it makes me feel like this is an Eddie-ism. This is just something he does when he’s happy and excited. And it’s the cutest freaking thing in the WORLD to me.
