37 Days Until Phalloplasty
37 days!!Â
Crazy that I am almost a month out. It is really feeling surreal.Â
A buddy of mine just had his surgery and filled me in on some pre-surgery info so that I did not feel blindsided when it came to my surgery.Â
Some of the things he filled me in on:
I most likely will not have glansplasty in stage one. Chen is now only doing the glans if someone specifically requests that it be done despite the added risk of complications. He said that usually when the glans is done in stage one people had to come back in for revisions anyways, so now they would prefer to wait.Â
This means I will have to come back in about 3 months for an outpatient surgery but can usually return to work pretty quickly. I will still be within my allowed medical leave within this time so I should be okay, and if it means less complications I am definitely okay with this.Â
They are now using integra. Which is something new they are using on the arm with the skin graft. It is something they put on your arm first, and then they place the skin from your leg on top of it so that you don’t have as much of an indented look going on with your arm. ( sorry for the lack of in depth information on this subject, it is early and I am in a rush to get to work haha ).Â
My friend said that he had a great experience with his microsurgeon (who uses integra ) so I decided to request this particular surgeon for myself. Dr. Chens office responded to my email request and said they would pass it on to the surgery scheduler so I am crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.Â
I am feeling really grateful for the friends I have made along the way on this journey. Being able to relate and talk about things and support each other has been super helpful.Â
Well, it is time for work. I’ve noticed my manager who misgendered me has been completely avoiding me. I don’t care... but I also know that I can’t really look at him without feeling angry. Like I said, one day I will work for myself.Â
One day.Â
