“ It’s highly unlikely that you can teach a child’s toy to use curse words. Otherwise, the creators left themselves wide open for a lawsuit that they probably had coming for such imprudence. ”
…
“ For a children’s toy, doesn’t it have an eeriness about it? ”
Callie turns the Furby to face her, looking into its round, glittery eyes. “...no? It’s not creepy at all, it’s just a Furby. Everybody jokes about them being creepy but I never saw it. Sometimes they bug out and start talking at night but that’s pretty much the only weird thing about them. And frankly, I’m getting kinda tired of people acting like they’re cursed or scary. They just wanna dance!”
virtuorco replied to your post: "Ew, what did I just step in?"
You know, a person reasonably wouldn’t want to step in strange goop, but if it shows signs of being a living critter, that’s pretty much every reason to be further disgusted. So he’s going to step on it again.
Another cry of pain came from the goop. Poor Tartar isn’t having a good day now, is he?
“WHY WOULD YOU GO AND STEP ON ME AGAIN?!”
virtuorco replied to your post: “Happy birthday, "Prince." ”:
"I might be a tad late, but you can still accept it. It's not a big deal."
“Oh, okay. Thanks! Did you get me anything?”
"Happy birthday, "Prince." "
“But it’s not my birthday!”

❛ it’s called ‘ violins against violence. ’ ❜
“I don’t know, I just think it’s kind of unwieldy for a band name. And you’d have to have multiple violins, are you gonna be able to deal with that?”
⏳
> DOWN MEMORY LANE [ ✧ ]> NO LONGER ACCEPTING.
The grin lasts just a moment — a flash of a sharp-toothed split that fit her face in the most unsettling of ways — but flickers off almost immediately, exchanged for a soft, almost contemplative, neutrality.
“ I knew a guy, ” she comments, kicking her legs idly, letting the thump thump thump of her heels against the brick get lost amidst the city’s bustling. “ back before I moved here. When, well, I wasn’ more’n a squib, even, couldn’t switch back an’ forth real well yet. That was overseas — this big, tall, skyscraper island. It was the last place I lived ‘fore comin’ here; Adonis never saw it. ”
It’s not silence that hangs in her pause, but emptiness, like a lull in the ambient storm.
“ We didn’t have no place to live, then. Well, uh, suffice it ta say, I got sick’a it. So I learned, right. Ta live off the streets. An’ at some point, I got on the radar of this shark guy. Imagine for a sec — he was tall, I mean tall, an’ all like, runner’s muscle; he wore a muscle tank top all the time. Had whitish fins, slicked back, tipped in blue, and a real sharp face. His name was Mako, or at least that’s what everyone called him, since no one knew his real name. ”
A beat. “ Assumin’ he had one, a’course. ”
She draws in a long, slow breath, hands locked on the ledge of the building and spine as long and straight as a taut rope. “ Mostly, he was a small-time thief, an’ showed me how ta make a living on the streets. Called me… iti āwhā, I think is how it was. Little storm. An’ in a word? Slick, he could outrun anything. At night, he played piano all over town, bars and things — never his own songs, though, he ripped off an old human artist. I’d sing if it didn’t matter; I never had a good voice.
“ There was a … lot that happened, back then. ” She taps a finger to the rhythm of her feet pounding against the wall, tilts her head back up to the cloudless sky, mouth set and brows furrowed. “ S’ where I got it all, though. Kind of a blur now. There were more’n just him — he had a lotta otha’ friends. I ain’t seen or heard from ‘im since I bought a ticket out here. Wonder what he’d think’a me now, mmn…? ”

i dont think its rly my place to say but i feel its easy to get trapped in your own head and self reflection of what your work appears to be. i dont know that much about soda but it appears that you’ve done a lot of work on her and shes been through a lot, and no other blog is gonna take away from that simply by being an agent 3 that’s complex etc. im never gonna think your agent 3 is samey to others bc of all that you’ve done.
naw, i mean, you’re right (and i appreciate the feedback no matter fnvfdj). that’s true; i have too high of a standard for “being separate”, seeing as, again, i had no competition for like a year and a half.
i just love soda to death, i really do, and i want ppl to love her just as much, and it’s frustrating to see a concept that i drew from the ground up become the default (even independently of myself) and see other iterations of it become more popular than mine. it comes from a place of entitlement, yes, but also frustration w being unable to convey her well enough, i think.
like. people wont take the time to understand, ig. soda was always meant to be a character study, like that is her most important point, so my failure to convey the important parts of her and garner immediate attention feels like a kick in the teeth. it’s like a testament to my lack of writing, art, or communicative skills.
and to an extent, i can blame my medium. rp is collaborative, so you share your worlds, your stories, but in a good character study the world around the mc reflects the themes and arcs, and soda just doesn’t have that. which is tangential, but it’s an important part of being able to realize soda at that full potential, and convey all that i want to.
apologies for the continued wall of text i think wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much.
