I was watching a video essay on the Moomins recently. In this storyline and scene, Tofslan and Vifslan show Moomin their big secret: the King's Ruby. The two speak a language only they understand. This becomes an allegory of Tove's (Tofslan) first relationship with a woman, Vivica (Vifslan), which was forbidden, kept as a secret just as the ruby.
