hello! west wing thoughts: I am thinking about Ellie, and what if Vic Faison (fruit fly guy) was a trans woman? She could be out to Ellie before the wedding, but not sure if she's ever going to be ready to come out publicly and transition. Or maybe she's not out to Ellie before the wedding or maybe she isn't even out to herself before the wedding. I think there is a lot of interesting potential for their relationship and how the two of them understand themselves as people. also, this would be tricky for two people who do not enjoy the spotlight! (though maybe Vic is more open to the spotlight once she's living as her authentic self! that'd be interesting too!) (I am continuing to refer to her as Vic for simplicity's sake. Vic is a great name for a woman imo but she might want to change it.)

Oh but I love this. Like… Ellie who’s always considered herself a lesbian, and never told anyone, and has no reasonable explanation for why she’s surprisingly comfortable feeling this attraction to Vic? She’s never been into a single man before in her LIFE and it’s confusing and she’s both kind of upset by it and kind of relieved cause at least that’ll please her parents. And then Vic gathers up the courage to tell her! And it’s such a part of their decision to get married, because Vic’s not ready to come out yet and Ellie’s not ready to come out yet but they Love each other and they’re okay making the decision for people to assume they’re a regular cishet couple for now. They have the White House wedding neither of them actually wanted, they both kind of hate it but it helps that Ellie knows exactly who she’s marrying and it helps that at least after this they can go back to relatively obscure lives and decide on their own terms when to make breaking news again. (And they will! Eventually! But it might be a while, and they’re both okay with that.)
