Hildy Update - Day 19
*Graphic Image Warning ⚠️*
Hildy showed up this morning at around 3am.
She seemed full of energy and even wanted to do some fishing in the pool (videos on our Instagram).
She had no fever, and a good appetite…however I can’t tell if the wound is getting irritated and maybe infected again 😢
I feel like it looks more swollen since the last time I saw her. More fur has fallen out…and her limp is more pronounced than before.
I noticed that her tail is also bent near the top…and I’m not sure if this is a new injury, or because of swelling around her wound, or from damaged nerve and muscle tissue?
I encourage anyone with knowledge to look at the pictures posted and please give me your opinion.
Topical treatment options are limited, and I’m wondering if I should begin a second round of antibiotics??? Or wait it out some more???
Again, her energy levels have improved greatly…she is also having a bit of an easier time sitting, and she is enjoying playing in water…so I can’t tell if we’ve gone 2 steps forward or back at this point 😔
There is still no sign of kits…and today Hildy seemed less “on alert” than she has been recently…almost as if she has nothing to listen for or be guarded about anymore☹️ I don’t want to think that something has happened to her babies…but she really did seem different this morning…and was in no rush to leave, like she has been lately 😞
I’m going to wait a few more weeks, before I give up hope of seeing her babies.
This brings up yet another problem. Not just for Hildy, but for all of the clan mothers…since I have not seen any kits yet this year…
Mothers that have not been successful getting pregnant early in the season, or have lost their kits…will sometimes go into heat again in order to produce a successful litter.
Not only does this put the kits at risk (since they are born later in the year)…but it is also hard on the mothers to birth multiple litters 😣
Hildy definitely doesn’t need that stress on her body now 😖
Im going to keep praying that things play out positively for Hildy 🙏🏻
And I’m going to continue doing everything I can for her❤️
